I watched you saying about claiming ppi so many times, and if I'm honest thouht no such thing as free money. Well how wrong could I be.!!!

So in summary my story. Had MBNA cc since 2000. Always used it for day to day living and run up high balances 10k plus, every few years. but always paid it off as had shares and other income every few years that enabled me to do so. After hearing all thus fuss checked my paperwork and had been paying ppi. Never needed it as self employed and had other policy's, shares etc to always pay off.

So I set one letter last year. Like most was put on hold due to court action. Recived letter last week saying they can now proceeds my complaint and had upheld it in my favour and will contact me.

Got letter this morning......so turns out I have paid £11000 in ppi and £13000 in Intrest, plus standard 8% Intrest on it= £ 25000!!!

Yes £25000 to be re-paid to me!!!

It took me 1 letter, 1 form to fill and £1.00 postage...to get £25000!!! Not a bad return.:j

Thank you forum and thank you Martin Lewis!!!

My Dad has had a credit card with MBNA for years with a balance of £3,500. He just pays the minimum balance every month and dosent look at his statements. Last November I looked at his statement and noticed that he was paying £35 ish a month for PPI. I asked him did he ask for this insurance and he didnt even know what it was. Turns out when he took out his credit card it was automatically added and he didnt question it.

I sent the template letter and form from this website off to MBNA in November, we kept receiving holding letters up until February and then heard nothing. We rang at the beginning of April and were told that someone would write to us. My Dad received a letter today to say that he will be refunded £10,300. £3,500 will be put to clear his credit card balance and the rest will be sent to him by cheque in 28 days.

We cant beleive it, things like this never happen to us. Thank you Money Saving Expert for your advice and guidance, it really does change peoples lives. Thank you

Brilliant well done you for picking up on it. I bet your Dad is chuffed to bits and hopefully he will treat you to say thank you.:j:D:T:T

need some advice here.....had a response from Currie Motors with regards to a car purchase agreement that included PPI they have refused to to agree that i had been mis sold PPI insurance with a response of...."Along with customer service, we take our obligations in respect of compliance with insurance sale regulations seriously and can assure you the sales procedure required at the time was fully in place .....you are welcome to refer the matter to the Financial Ombudsman , however in our opinion the FOS have no jurisdiction in this matter as the motor industry only became regulated in respect on insurance mediation from 14th January 2005"
Shall i still go the the FOS as i finished paid for my car in 2006
  • Hi, my complaint to HSBC was logged at the start of October 2010, still heard nothing from them about the ppi since the court ruled in our favour so i emailed the CEO Mr. Robertson yesterday and again today and they just keep responding by email telling me that my complaint has been forwarded to the relevant department! Iasked them to confrim if Mr Robertson would read my email or if someone in his ofice would but the question was ignored and my email forwarded to another department again! I will continue to email them daily if i have to but i'm sure i will keep getting the same response! The department dealing with ppi complaints have been telling me that they are waiting for the legal team to draw up letters since April and they still dont have them ready! I dont understand how they are getting away with this even after they ignored the FOS about putting complaints on hold. I would really appreciate some advice if anyone has any ideas. Thanks.

I posted earlier today about my nightmare HSBC PPI claim, I agree the team dealing with PPI claims are less than helpful. I too have emailed the CEO today, so far I haven't had any response. Surely, if the courts have ruled in our favour HSBC are obliged to look into claims. Very frustrating.

Hi, i have just had a call from hsbc and someone in the ppi department has now been assigned to my claim, she told me that i will have a decision in the next 10 working days, if i am successful i will just have to sign a form and fingers crossed i might have my money back by the end of the month!

I emailed the ceo yesterday and again today to say i had still not heard and then less than an hour later i had a call which i am sure i would not have had if i hadnt sent the emails so just keep sending them until you get some aknowledgement from the right department! fingers crosssed x

Hi there, you would get no joy from FOS as they were not regulated.
Find out who the insurer was and send a mis sell to them, if they come back with a "get lost" then you can take this to FOS.
