Well what can I say...thank you Martin Lewis!!!
I watched you saying about claiming ppi so many times, and if I'm honest thouht no such thing as free money. Well how wrong could I be.!!!

So in summary my story. Had MBNA cc since 2000. Always used it for day to day living and run up high balances 10k plus, every few years. but always paid it off as had shares and other income every few years that enabled me to do so. After hearing all thus fuss checked my paperwork and had been paying ppi. Never needed it as self employed and had other policy's, shares etc to always pay off.

So I set one letter last year. Like most was put on hold due to court action. Recived letter last week saying they can now proceeds my complaint and had upheld it in my favour and will contact me.

Got letter this morning......so turns out I have paid £11000 in ppi and £13000 in Intrest, plus standard 8% Intrest on it= £ 25000!!!

Yes £25000 to be re-paid to me!!!

It took me 1 letter, 1 form to fill and £1.00 postage...to get £25000!!! Not a bad return.:j

Thank you forum and thank you Martin Lewis!!!

    WOW, well done!:T:j & Congratulations, great work! a lotta money there!:D:T:T

  • My Dad has had a credit card with MBNA for years with a balance of £3,500. He just pays the minimum balance every month and dosent look at his statements. Last November I looked at his statement and noticed that he was paying £35 ish a month for PPI. I asked him did he ask for this insurance and he didnt even know what it was. Turns out when he took out his credit card it was automatically added and he didnt question it.

I sent the template letter and form from this website off to MBNA in November, we kept receiving holding letters up until February and then heard nothing. We rang at the beginning of April and were told that someone would write to us. My Dad received a letter today to say that he will be refunded £10,300. £3,500 will be put to clear his credit card balance and the rest will be sent to him by cheque in 28 days.

We cant beleive it, things like this never happen to us. Thank you Money Saving Expert for your advice and guidance, it really does change peoples lives. Thank you

As I'm off work today I got stuck into my paperwork. I completed the questionaire re: Nationwide loan & sent a 'Copy of Agreement' form to A&L.
Then I came across a letter received months ago from Swinton about PPI payments added to policies I took out 4 years ago for car & home insurance. It told me to ring them so I did expecting them to tell me 'too late, you should have made contact months ago' but instead I spoke to a guy who asked me my name and address & then whether or not I knew anything about the PPI added to my insurance. 'ERR No!' says I. 'OK' says he 'well we took £45.00 for the 3 policies so I will send you a refund of £52.50 by cheque today' 'Thank you very much!' says I & hung up. :j MY first attempt at getting something back & a result!! (albeit a small one!). Would be nice to think the rest could be as easy.

I've only just discovered this thread but thanks to the knowledge I've gained already I feel confident enough to give this a go. Thanks to all who take the time and effort to contribute & share their wisdom! :)

Well done a nice little sum for your pocket.:T:T

I sent off the letter on 23.3.2011 & received the usual ones in between & finally on Saturday 28 May, 2 months later offer of £852.00.

Also sent off for HSBC at same time but they're still investigating apparently!!
