  • After obtaining a loan with welcome finance for a car then agreeing a top up loan after a 6 month period not knowing that welcome had put this dam loan against my property which I never would have agreed to further down the line 5 years with no missed payments I found that I was paying ppi great I thought after all the media on rip off pp I put a clam in, then in November 2010, after sending all my documentation through I got an offer of refund after the trick tactic questionnaire for the region of £3,666 great ! I signed the acceptance form with my partner as there was two choices one to give your bank details in as there was another box underneath it tick if you wanted the balance paid off your loan which I did not want so we choose to receive payment into the bank. After a 3 month wait I called the head office to see where they were regarding our loan they were quite helpful and gave me re assurance that payment would be around a 17 day period after the acceptance after this so what called 17 day period was over I called head office after a 45 minute wait on the telephone to see why the money had not been paid in I spoke to an obnoxious man and do you know what he said! he said that we had ticked the box on the acceptance form and that the monies will be paid of the loan what a load of bull I said to him, he was quite adamant I said there is no way in this world that I ticked the box as needed the money and not set out to pay it off the loan so why did I send my bank details to you I called my local branch and they are sending a complaint letter to them also I called the financial ombudsman who also is writing to then what a load of bull hey! Still ongoing 11/03/11:money::money::money:

    Hi and welcome.
Blimey! Sorry to hear of your messing around.
Did you happen to take a photocopy of where you ticked the acceptance form for it to be paid directly to you - before sending it back to them?

Hope they put this right for you soon, good luck.;)

Ask welcome for a copy of this acceptance with the box ticked, so you can send it to fos as the box would not have been ticked by you as you wanted the money in the bank and not off the loan. You believe this box was ticked fraudulently and will be taking further action. This might just make them jump.Hope you have a copy of this yourself, then you will have them bang to rights!!!.

Just get in touch and ask for a copy of the acceptance they sent to you, and do what i said. Do not stop paying the loan, as you will incur extra interest and it will go on your credit file, the fos will deal with this for you, but in the meantime, do as i said.
  • thanks amersall, for your good advice it just makes me mad can they do this to me? will they get away with it its just not fair the tactics that they use are terrible i just could not understand it

Hopefully if welcome still say you signed the "take it off the loan" box
and they dont provide you with a copy, then the fos will deal with this. Good luck with this and please keep us posted.

Far too easy !!! You must all do it now !!!
Loan with Egg, taken out 2001, paid off in 2010.
One letter sent reclaiming PPI for mis selling, told me when I took the loan out I was unlikely to be granted the loan without taking the PPI.
1 week later letter off Egg to acknowledge my compalint.
3 weeks later another letter telling me they were still investigating.
8 weeks to the day another letter saying they were still investigating but I could go to the FOS.
I wrote back to them giving them a further 2 weeks before I went to the FOS. I sent this recorded.
Saturday just 1 week after my second letter a cheque for just under £9000.00.
I am still in shock. Original PPi cost front loaded was £6000.00.
I cannot believe how easy it was.
Just make sure you claim yourself, do not use a company to do it for you as they will charge.

9 weeks, 2 letters £9 grand, cant be bad
"banks, they used to call me sir, now they send me hate mail "
