  • hi dont worry it wont take 21 days i claimed from lloyds got told the same thing i had my money credited to my loan account in about 10 days so hang in there.
  • Well it is now the 14th November. Although I have had further letters from Lloyds TSB saying how it has all been settled I still HAVE NOT had the money. I really did want to say how good they had been over this matter but I'm starting to struggle. I have a letter dated 12/11/2007 that tells me it "will be credited to your loan account within the next 21 days". Twenty-one days!!!! What the hell is that all about???? They couldn't tell me the amount of the 'interest accrued' but I'm guessing they WILL add the amount that I'm waiting of the 21 days. Well? What do you think?
hi dont worry i have just claimed from lloyds and got my money back they gave me the same story and my money was credited to my loan account in 10 days so hang in there.
  • got a letter this morning from hsbc with an offer for £1393.97, which we will be accepting.
it was for 5 loans with loan protection over the past 6 years.
hsbc has agreed with our claim for 2 of the loans having ppi included without correct information being given at the time and has awarded the money in respect of these and the early repayment charges on the accounts.
unfortunately 3 of the loans have come back with a refusal for repayment from them but i can live with that.......
i'm pleased it was quickly dealt with and should have the money in time for xmas and we didn't need to involve the financial ombudsman.
good luck to all you other money savers out there and a happy xmas to you all

  • I had a loan with Liverpool and Victoria (Frizzels) some time ago in fact the loan was taken out in January 2001 and completed March 2003.

I used the basis template with deletions to leave Self employed.

Letter sent 1st nov 2007 response received 6th november 2007.

what they have said is that " confirm you applied for your loan by telephone and that the sales staff were instructed to secure PPI and at the time the structure of the information given was not appropriate. We have taken steps to improve the service.

The PPI was £15.17 per month by 25 payments plus 8% interest - refund of £409.25.

L&V are taking this seriously and being totally up front.

Less can be said of the GM Card people (now HPC) who have come back with a load of tosh - so will be writing back to them and will let you know how i get on.

I am also challenging the local PCT (NHS Trust) for the daylight robbery of my mothers Nursing Home Fees - that will be a lengthy one i suspect but every time i dig i unearth a huge can of worms. There is something devilishly devious in all this which reeks of disinformation.

    All the best

    Vassie
  • Thanks to you Martin I have been given a PPI refund of over £2500 from LloydsTSB.

I was originally sold a loan from them, with a high interest rate which I couldnt really afford.

I was pressured to take the insurance out and felt like saying no was not an option. I did write a letter to them to ask for a refund about 2 years ago but they refused.

The insurance was added as a lump sum on top of the loan amount so I was basically paying interest on the insurance as well which surely isn't right.

With your help and your letters I was given the refund recently after just writing to them once.
Well thanks to you I am no longer in as much debt.

Instead of 19 months left to pay my loan off, I now only have 3.

    Thank you so much Martin.
I never slept so well in over 5 years

  • Hi. I'm new and I thought I'd tell you about my experiences in trying to get back my PPI from a Lloyds TSB Loan. I consolidated some debts and took out a loan in May 2004 for £20k and I was told it was compulsory to take out the PPI even though I queried it at the time. Anyway to cut a long story short I wrote to the bank on 20 September 2007 and got a letter from the Insurance side of Lloyds saying they'd look into it. About 3 weeks later I received a letter saying that I signed the PPI form (which states it is optional) so basically tough luck! I then sent the second letter in Martin's tempates, getting a bit more militant and I have just received their final response again saying I knew it was optional. I'm claiming the PPI back not just on this point but I also had adequate insurance already plus I wasn't asked any health questions or informed what the insurance covered. So, I have today sent off my complaint form to the Financial Ombudsman. I'll keep you informed.
    - New news - today (9/6/08) I heard back from the Financial Ombudsman Services saying that they have upheld my complaint against Lloyds TSB
misselling my ppi. Hooray. However, Lloyds TSB don't like that (natrually) and so now I'm being told the case now has to go to another Ombudsman to look at. Has anyone else every had this happen to them? If so, is it likely that the new Ombudsman will disagree with the decision the adjudicator made? Any advise please.
  • Well, mine has been settled and it did not take the 21 days. I said I would be fair to the bank and it is only right that I let people know what the 'interest accrued' turned out to be. My loan was reduced by the £5,225.46 plus a further £2,080.82. A staggering total of £7, 306.28 !
I was about to start to the process of reclaiming my charges from Lloyds TSB.........but, to be fair to them, I think I'll give it a week or two before I do that.
  • Got my first success this morning. Got a renewal for my sons car insurance with M&S Money. I noticed it had added 67p per month PPI, I am furious I never wanted or needed this. I rang them, politely told the lady I was very cross and wanted last years back, she agreed immediately. Oh it makes me wonder just how many times this has happened to us over the years.
