I've just had a call from my bank - amazingly i'm getting a staggering £7505.05 back. I can't quite believe it and won't until it's in my account and moved somewhere else. All off the back of a letter from this site. Amazing. I now officially love being good with money and Martin Lewis and all the team.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU0 -
Firstly I would like to thank this site for the advice and sample letters, that has helped me to successfully claim £3667.90 back from mis-sold PPI insurance.
I have a loan with Liverpool Victoria/Frizzel of £20,000 last may 2003 which is already been faid. 31 of October i send a letter using your template to inform them that I did not realise that the PPI was optional. This morning (15/11/07) just a receive a settlement letter that they are paying me back + interest of 8%.
I would not have thought of this but for your article, many thanks.
Thank you once again

I successfully reclaimed PPI of £3,250 from LTSB earlier this year. This included interest compounded at the applicable rate on the CC.
My basis of complaint was that the PPI never explained at all nor its optional nature, I had the card for around 4 years prior to discovering the optional nature of it (I was somewhat younger and greener back then), it took a lot of calls and letters to get it removed. But it wasnt until I discovered charges reclaiming that I thought I would chance my arm at getting the PPI back.
Even if the PPI was explained it would have been useless to me given my job security and very generous death or illness benefits from my employer.
LTSB totally ostriched the whole thing, culminating in bailiffs going to their head office in London to demand payment.
i have a loan with LTSB with a simular story to you. but after trying to reclaim my money using the template, and a follow on letter, i have not been successful. their reply more or less said that the advisor would of given me the loan protection info. thus, same as with endow the template did not work leavin me out of pocket. any suggestions??0 -
Well I am on letter 2 to LTSB now giving 14 days, and have followed this with a letter saying 14 days up ???? and given the fact I am a long standing customer 27 years+ I would like a descision by ????. Just waiting now....0

Hi
Just for all those waiting, today I have actually had the PPI refund paid into my bank account.
The letter confirming they would pay was dated 1 November so it has taken 14 days. They actually paid the PPI insurance amount LESS the interest but this has been paid separately from what looks like a finance company "H off-Finance".
So hang in there it will happen. :T :T :T
Thank you MartinMortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -
I had a loan with Nationwide which unknown to me !! I didn`t tick the box indicating that I required Loan Insurance} I was paying insurance on. When I checked on this and sent a letter, using one of martin`s templates, I recieved a phone call the next working day, and a cheque for £900. to cover 7 yrs payments , by the end of the week. It only took a few minuits going through old paperwork,I didn`t even pay for the stamp I just put the letter through the door of my local branch. There must be a lot of money about out there....some of it may be yours.....check your old paperwork.....get it back!

COMPANY: Alliance & LEicester
TIME TAKEN - 3 weeks
I took a loan out with A & L in 2005 to buy a car, I subsequently tried to cancel the PPI about 3 months later having realised the amount of benefits I had at work i.e. full sick pay for 1 year, PHI scheme etc. A & L wrote back and said that they would cancel it but would have to refinance the loan, which I declined.
I wrote to them 3 weeks ago, again requesting that they looked at the letter requesting cancellation from 2005, as I felt it was unfair that they had said that the loan should be refinanced. They have this morning as a gesture of goodwill offered me reimbursement of just over £1100 which relates to the PPI payments made from the point I requested cancellation to the repayment of the loan in February of this year.
So whilst my PPI was not missold, and I didnt try to claim that it was, as I had previously tried to cancel I have had success!!!
Woohoo, well done again Martin and team, with your help I also successfully reclaimed approximately £4k of bank charges for my Mum.
Martin for PM :T

We had a loan with Northern Rock and after seeing Martin on TV had a closer look at the policy. As the loan is in my husbands name we double checked the terms and conditions of the loan. Turns out as he is in the RAF two parts of the policy would not cover him. This policy was recommended to him by Northern rock on the same letter that stated his occupation.
After sending the template letter with a copy of the recommendation letter to Northern Rock they have agreed and will be sending a cheque in the post. No compensation but I am happy with the outcome.
Thanks Martin.0 -
