Well Mr Lewis, if I ever meet you I will buy you very big pint.

    A short summary (since October)
Sold my house in July/August. I had a secured loan against the old house with mis sold PPI. Paid everything off bought my new house and settled in nicely.Got my September Moneysaving expert email advising of PPI reclaiming. Used the template on the site. Bought a stamp (32p) sent off the letter and now I have just received £25,000!!! This is the original premium plus interest.

WOW! What can I say! I think this year we will have a very merry christmas!

    Thanks Martin!

    :money:

Thats biggest win ive seen so far. What a christmas you will be having.

Can you name the bank. It gives hope to others claiming from the same company.

I cant give the name on the forum just yet. I have emailed Martin with the fulll details. I am just awaiting the final bit of money to clear first - as it has come in two parts.

What I can say is that it was a from a loan brokered by a well known brokerage company and they agreed I had been miss sold PPI by themselves. There was no arguing or anything. I received a phone call frm them and then a confirmation letter.

I certantly dont mind revealing all very soon as I think this site is great...and yes I didnt beleive it either until I got the confirmation letter.:j
    • What were you reclaiming: Car hire agreement
    • Who was the provider: Ford Credit
    • How much did you get back: agreed £350
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Two letters sent to them, three sent to me
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale
Got ppi on my car finance because i was told that i wouldnt get the loan otherwise and i would lose the car if it wasnt taken. Sent one letter to ford credit and got one back to say it was being investigated. Then got one from the dealership which had none of my details and that they believed they were in the right. They have me down as a stupid 22 year old, but im not stupid, so i sent an angry letter back explaining all deatils in full, told them to prove that they were right or refund and told them i was not happy witht the letter sent back. They replied saying they were sorry, that i had not even signed the ppi and in the case i would get the full amount i had paid them back, which for the ppi was £350. Cheques in the mail and im so pleased. Going to by a new tv coz ive had mine for years.

  • YIPEEEE:j YIPEEEE:T YAHOOOO:beer: YAHOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:j
Worst Plus are going to settle in FULL! Everything! Paying back the PPI payments to the loan so that figure comes off the exaggerated settlement figure. Also, the interest is to come of the the settlement figure and the best is always last they are going to to pay me, by cheque - in my hand, the overpayments!!! They are recalculating the loan to lower the monthy payments as if the PPI hadn't been taken out and all the payments we have made to date coming off the original amount borrowed.
So for all those of you with claims still going on hang in there it will be sorted.
Finally, I would like to thank everyone at MSE for showing us the light!
  • I took out a £25,000 unsecured loan over 7 years in 2004 with LTSB. Being self employed I decided to follow Martins advice on mis-selling and used the template letter, modified to my circumstances.
Lo and behold, this morning I received an offer from LTSB for £5,700, so a good starting point which I am currently considering and this only 2 weeks after my letter was sent !
So, thankyou Martin and all at MSE, I shall now be looking at other accounts.

One last question for those of you out there who may know. LTSB have offered the above sum plus interest, but have not stated how much the interest is. Should they identify this to make a lump sum ?
And they state this payment will be made to my loan account to reduce the term of the loan. Do I not get a choice on how this should be repaid ?

Well done you, makes my £2300 seem like a penny, but good on ya its your money and you will have a very very merry (hic) Christmas.
Claimed back almost £4000 so far from HSBC for mis-sold PPI
£2083.00 + £242.00 8% interest from FirstPlus and lower monthly premiums:D Studio Cards paid off my account and gave me £125.00 in gift vouchers. £500.00 Barclays.
  • Success with Sainsbury Bank loan, getting all ppi payments back plus interest, missold as hubby is self employed fisherman and no one asked at the time. Usual letter you are not really due this but due to an error we will refund the money.

    awaiting
    Barclaycard, lloyds card, kays catalogue

wonderful site I hads no idea we were being fleeced so!!
  • What were you reclaiming: PPI
Who was the provider: Lloyds TSB
How much did you get back: £3,958.54 + Interest

I took out a loan online with Lloyds TSB 7 months ago, as Martin says in his guide the chances of getting anything back are pretty remote.

1st letter was laughed at, then i had a "light bulb" moment

I complained that their online PPI policy was "all or nothing" I already had life insurance and hospital cover, but it did not allow me the option to exlude them, so in fact I was paying twice.

3 days later letter back "as a gesture of goodwill" and as a good customer, refunding all the PPI plus interest

Cheers Martin for bringing this to our attention

Just goes to show, there are more ways to skin a cat ... big fat cats especially ;-)

Good luck everyone, keep on trying
  • You will see from an earlier reply that I had sent another letter to lloyds tsb about my ppi on my loan about a form that I DID NOT sign. Well.... I told them I wanted proof of that signed form, they obviously don't have it and ive just looked at my internet banking and found a 'ins refund' of £106!!!!!

    Bank 0 - Me 1
DFW Nerd No: 758  Proud to be dealing with my debts!:T Proud mum to Bon-Scott my amazing 10/10/10 baby :p
  • I posted off 5 letters to various companies that I had/have PPI with, 2 store cards from GE (Mothercare and Evans), M & S Money (credit card) Sainsburys Credit Card and an MBNA Credit Card. I received replies from all of them within 10 days all saying they were looking into the matter. I received a 2nd letter from M&S saying they had looked up my application form and I had ticked the box for PPI, they sent me a copy and I had ticked the box! They said I was NOT mis sold the policy as I had ticked the box! I received 2 letters today from GE saying that both store cards were taken out before 2005 when a new law came into force so I had not been mis sold the policies. How come everybody else gets money back? What am I doing wrong.
