Sent standard letter to Egg for PPI insurance claim in Oct. The loan taken out Jan 05 £5000 over 48 months loan protection £959.80. The letter says We have attempted to retrieve the call when you were offered PPI , unfortunately the tape has been corrupted and we have been unable to listen to this. Therefore a business decision has been taken to refund the PPI with interest as a gesture of goodwill without admission of liability. Please find enclosed a cheque for £324.75 this being the remaining premium of £292.83 plus interest of £31.92. Sent 2nd letter saying i would accept the cheque as part settlement but unless they could prove to me that it wasnt missold i wanted a full refund plus interest, received a letter yesterday offering me the full amount of the policy plus interest. £1018.89
    • What were you reclaiming: ( loan PPI)
    • Who was the provider: (Alliance & Leicester)
    • How much did you get back: £1171.24
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Wrote to them using the first template, and within 4 weeks offer for full refund. ( after chasing them with 2 other letters.
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale
took a loan out in 2002, was persuaded to take out PPI by the salesperson, only have one months payment left to make.:money::beer:
  • £2750.00 and a huge reduction in my monthly payments plus keeping interest at 7.9% as per original loan and after sending just 2 letters :T

  • This works for business loans too. We are a small business. 3 years ago needed to loan to start up. £50,000. Was told we had to have insurance cover, an extra £9.000 to be added to the amount, even though we told them we had been quoted by another company for same cover for much less. We were told we had to have their insurance or the loan wouldn't be agreed.

We have sent just one letter and now had full refund of £9,000 plus £2000 in interest payments.

Have now taken out cheaper insurance elsewhere.

    Result.

    Thank you very much...
  • Success with a 2 loans with LTSB, one dated 13/8/02 and one 28/8/01, have the remaining amounts returned (some were returned when I repaid the loans in 2003) so payments into my bank of £462 and £435 + interest on both, due in my bank in 21 days - fantastic and only took 1 letter, thanks to the site and all the help from everyone

Hi all, I apologise if I should have started a new thead but am in a confused state at present and am hoping for some advice/info if this is possible, cheers.
Basically our complaint about Nemo personal finance regarding ppi has been with the FOS since last November 2006 and the provisional decision was 31 August where the FOS agreed the ppi were mis sold but given extra time for both us and the company to give further information, so this was done and the final decision was 22nd October where it was also again agreed that the ppi were mis sold as nemo did not provide anything to state otherwise, of course apart from denying this.

As we accepted the final decision and the FOS submitted this at the end of October to nemo solicitors 'Eversheds' where this is now binding on us and the company (Nemo), which they stated that Nemo should make the payment by the latest 3rd DEC as a deadline date, but we heard nothing even by contacting nemo the week or so before they actually first denied even knowing about this until our adjudicator sent them confirmation that the final decision was sent to their solicitors the month before.

We have since found out that Eversheds nemo's solicitors have wrote a letter to the financial ombudsman the one who have been dealing with out complaint and are now nemo are just waiting for confirmation from them before they give any further information to us and state they do not know the contents of the letter sent.

I am very baffled about this now, because we also received a phone call today from one of the caseworkers of the FOS which is a messaage from our ombudsman as he had gone home, was that he has the letter from nemo's solicitors and he was considering it, and we asked the caseworker if she knew what the letter states and said she was only passing on the message and is not aware of whats in the solicitors letter.

I thought once the ombudsman decision was final that was that, so what other reason could there be why nemo's solicitors would write and ask the ombudsman to consider ?

Can the company still refuse after all this ?
The ombudsman agreed it was mis sold and he also listened to the telephone calls, so what now ??

Has anyone been through this or have any idea what may be going on ?

I assumed nemo were using stalling tactics to hold out as long as possible not to pay out, but due to these we have been left in a very difficult financial situation, we have a son with ASD with special needs who we also need to cater for around xmas, and due to the long wait it has been very distressing.

We remortgaged in September and paid Nemo off which also included paying the full amount of ppi approx £11k plus etc and interest on top, so obviously we had to borrow more in our new mortgage to clear these !!

Will be grateful for any help in this situation, thank you so much.

I'm sending off two letter to Clydesdale Bank regarding two loans, one taken in 2002 which we then refinanced in 2006, both had PPI, more importantly the one that we are paying just now(2006 one) the PPi tick box was completed by guess who....yes the person who was selling us the loan, and it is quite clear on the form too because it's the same as the x's for where to sign, nothing highlighted about the insurance and no documentation with the papers etc etc.
We are claiming with different reasons for both of the claims against them, the first one was obviously paid off with the 2nd loan, but I don't remember them explaining of any discounts for that when it was paid off early, ie single permium added at start.
I'm hoping things will work out for us, thats three claims in and all of them are for around £2500.

Next up HBOS credit card repayment charge, and sorting out CC charges, have went through all our paperwork over the past few nights and have organised all the bills/bank statements etc into order, tonight it's listing the charges, I'm also preparing the bank charges and wait for the New Year for the High Court case, although I understand up here in Scotland we can still go ahead with claiming due to us having different laws, some Sheriff in Inverness ruled that he cannot uphold the laws of an English Court as it is classed as a Foreign Country.

Good work Martin, and thanks to everyone on here.
Thanks to all the competition posters.

after the 8weeks they sent a letter saying they were still looking into things and asked if i was willing to give them a little longer, but also pointed out that at this point i had the right to take things further i decided to give them longer and got the first offer 2 weeks later.
