  • Hi all
I bought a suite from DFS on 30 months interest free and I my last payment is next month. Following Martin's advice I wrote to Black Horse finance (the finance company used by DFS) asking for my loan insurance back. Black Horse forwarded my letter to DFS and they telephoned me and asked if I could go to the local store to discuss. The end result is they were very helpfull and agreed to pay all of the money back (£240).
The strange thing is that in order to pay a refund they have to pay ALL of the money back I have paid, which means I will get back £240 plus £2000 which I paid for the suite. I have then taken a new repayment scheme out which means I pay the suite money back in 6 months. It sounds complicated but it works like this; next month DFS pay me £2000 + £240 = £2240. In six months time I pay them back the £2000 which in the mean time sits in my flexible mortgage account and helps to pay off my mortgage that little bit earlier.
Martin I don't know if you get to read these messages but can I take this opportunity to thank you for all your help and advice given via this web site and on GMTV. You deserve a knighthood!

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Thanks to this web site I used the template for PPI misselling for my partner, who had a loan with alliance and Leicester to buy a car.

Over 5 years they said at first that she couldn't cancel so after reading Martins e-mail on PPI we wrote away to them and within in 6 weeks they have written back offering my partner £368 and stopping the remainder of the policy.

Unless you try you never know, nice little bit just in time for Christmas.

    Thanks once again.

    Regards Andy & Lou

Part of the Furniture I won, I won, I won!
Have dug out all my old loan agreements:
    Welcome Finance(Medicare 24, Lifecare 24 & Payment Protection!) £700
Royal Bank of Scotland - Payment protection £1730
    Clydesdale Bank Payment protection £339.70

I have signed for payment protection on all three, but feel that I have been fobbed off by the staff members selling them.

Going to get my letters sorted and posted tomorrow and see what happens......
  • I have posted off 3 letters today to mbna, and ge money for 2 stores cards I have, theses are both 2nd letters to the companies. What is worrying me is that I am a registered childminder who is self employed and my income differs from one month to the next and can drop quite drastically if I lose a child/children if say they start full-time school or if a parent gives up work so I could have a downsize in income of several 100's of £ for quite a few months until I am able to get a replacement child but as I am still looking after other children I am not unemployed just earning a lower wage! I have written the 3 letters explaining this as all companies have said even though I am self-employed I can still claim. I have lost 3 children over the past few months so obviously have a lower income and I think I might claim on my ppi and see what they have to say and if they refuse I think I've got them. What does everyone think!! Help I feel such a failure

I got it back £5000 from the Royal Bank of Scotland for a loan where I was told I was fully covered - yay

    Thank you Martin
  • What were you reclaiming: £5000 with £597ppi
Who was the provider: Tesco Loan
How much did you get back: £597
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: First letter
And then write your brief reclaim tale:

I wrote one letter and got an intial repsonse within days saying they were looking into my enquiry. Then only one week later I got a letter offering me the ppi back but they wouldnt pay any interest. I took up their offer and received the money in my account 2 days later.

    It was very very simple.
    Merry Christmas

Hey guys, It seems I got stung twice with this. PPI amount was £2430.38 in Nov 98 and £2530.44 in Nov 99.

The complaint was registered with them on Nov 29th and am awaiting a response.

Has anyone claimed from LTSB and can advise me on how long it took them to get the cash ( i am hoping for it by christmas ) or roughly how much I can expect?

I am new to this and missed the boat with bank charges so any help is greatly appreciated!

sorry to put a dampener on things, but I have been wrangling with Lloyds over PPI since August, and they still havent decided yet. As I have 7 (!!) claims in with them for CC, Loans and Bank, I wanted to receive a response on them all before going further. However they've had well over their time allowed so FOS here I come ............

Dont expect anything for Christmas though - sorry!!

No problems, I wonder if it because you have quite a few claims!! other people seem to have ha a quick response. I myself had the complaint registered on 29th nov, and have already recieved an acknowledgment on step 2, saying they would honour my 14 day time frame??

Being the eternal optomist that I am... my hope remains for at least a new year celebration!!
Knowing my luck though, I'll end up with zilch and just be 2 stamps down. To save time have you tried going through the email address as opposed to snail mail?

  • Hello can anyone tell me if it is ok to cancel my PPI now even though I have just sent my FOS letter of for them to deal with things? (As Natwest wouldnt budge)

Should I leave it going at the moment or ask them to cancel now? will it affect the FOS If it is not on the loan anymore? (25K 7yrs in my 4th year)

    Thanks for your help
  • Got settlement letter from HSBC today. Took 1 letter and 6 weeks of waiting. No explanation just said my complaint was being upheld.

Didn't expect to get anything and got more than i anticipated! It's certainly worth the price of a stamp!

Very happy - Thanks for the tip off Martin!!
