Yippee! Success! After unsuccessfully trying to reclaim my PPI payments from Alliance and Leicester since June 07, I decided to complete MSE's template as I had previously done with reclaiming bank charges (success there too) and it worked. They have offered me all my payments with interest to date. Keep at it folks you will succeed. So if you need an incentive BigCraigJohn just do it. Thank you Martin xx
Funny enough this is Alliance and Leicester aswell. I did use one of the templates but as I said above they seem to ignored several of my other points the main 1 being it was almost rammed down my neck. Think i'll take it to the next level and point out there lack of explanation. Cheers anyway.
  • FOR THE COST OF A STAMP 4 WEEKS AGO I AM NOW £1400 BETTER OFF FOR CHRISTMAS.THANKYOU FOR THE TEMPLATE LETTER ON SITE WHICH I USED.:rotfl:

Hi, good news this morning, with reference to PPI mis-selling LTSB, as a 'gesture of good will', are prepared to offer me a refund of £1600 plus interest accrued, but they want to credit the £1600 to my loan account. This means the monthly instalment on my loan will remain the same, but the balance and term of the loan will be reduced.

I would prefer the £1600 plus interest be paid into my current LTSB current account instead of the loan account. Can anyone advise me if I am within my rights to ask for this ?

    Many thanks.

    Mik.

i was wonderin this to,surely you should get the choice of it coming off the loan or being paid into your current account?
i'm in the middle of tryin to reclaim my ppi an was hopin i'd get the choice if successful.why should they just automatically pay it off the loan, surely its not there money to do that with?
has anybody ever challenged the bank when they've took the money off the outstandin loan?
    • What were you reclaiming: mis-sold PPI - for a personal loan of £25k in Sept. 2007
    • Who was the provider: Lloyds TSB
    • How much did you get back: £469.11 - PPI repayments (repaid to current account) and full refund of single premium which was £9088.22 - credited back to loan account)
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: after one telephone call and one emailed letter, the same day, based on Martin's template!

    What a wonderful pre-Christmas bonus!!

As a weekly newsletter subscriber I'd read Martin's article on PPI mis-selling, and was pretty sure that it applied to me. Just over a week ago I telephoned customer care at Lloyds TSB Insurance to check out their process and addresses. I explained that I had probably been mis-sold PPI and she took details. The lady at LTSB was more than a little off-putting, attempting at one point to persuade me that a lot of the policy was still of benefit!! She eventually agreed that I could cancel the policy whilst making a claim, and transferred me to the next lady who told me not to cancel as I'd just lodged a mis-selling complaint! I had to insist that the policy be cancelled.

I decided I must put things in writing too, using the template from this site. I simply sent the letter as an MS Word doc, and emailed it with a covering note. My medical history (bowel cancer) and very recent consultations were discussed by me with the original LTSB salesperson, but in insufficient detail by her to help me decide about the PPI. In addition I'd been told that the PPI was essential because of the size of the loan. Of course it was single premium!

Two days ago I received a call from LTSB to confirm their decision to make a full refund. I've just checked my bank accounts on-line and can confirm the good news about the interest being refunded to my current account, and the full single-payment premium being refunded to the loan account.

My next step will be to open a current account at a different bank, prior to transferring all my business - apart from that loan.

When I first took out a loan with Firstplus, they asked if I wanted PPI, explaining that if I didn't make a claim in the first 5 years, I would get all my PPI payments back........ The first letter got the expected response that they were in the right and I had received the correct amount of re-imbursement. I sent off the second template letter and got a much more favouable response.
Even though they were definately not in the wrong, as a gesture of goodwill, they offered me a sum of just over £3,000.00 in addition to the sum received when the loan was settled.
This was in line with what I expected, so I accepted and am going to have a fantastic Christmas.

I would urge anyone who may think they have a grievance about PPI to use the template letters. All it cost me was 2 first class stamps and a wee bit of time.
A BIG THANK YOU TO MARTIN!!!!:T

Cordante - thanks for your encouragement :rudolf: - this echoes my purchase with Firstplus. I redeemed earlier this year and was very surprised with the high settlement figure, not having been aware of the single payment premium. I'll give it a try and report back.

  • Success number 1.
Bought a suite from DFS in 2005, the salesman filled in the forms which I signed.
I read the PPI article and looked through all my agreements and found PPI on this with HFC.
2 letters to HFC and got told NO refund.
Wrote to the FLA and 2 weeks later got an offer of £200.32 refund if I end the matter now and dont take any further action against them.
    Now awaiting the cheque.
Thanks to MSE christmas is back on!!!!!!!

  • What were you reclaiming: PPI on loan
    Who was the provider: Nationwide
How much did you get back: £2055
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: One letter and one phonecall to Nationwide.

Received my cheque today from Nationwide really pleased and once again a huge thankyou to Martin and all who have advised on this website.

    Happy Christmas :santa2:
  • Used Martins template letter to try and reclaim PPI from Abbey, the reasons being that I informed them at the time of application I was retiring in 13 months.
I was told if I did'nt take out the PPI, I would be refused the loan, therefore not giving me an option. In other words - no PPI - no loan.
Received reply from Abbey, acknowledging my letter, and informing me they would be looking into the matter. Then followed a telephone call, to clarify a few points.
Yesterday, I received another letter with the offer of £968.40 including interest, in full and final settlement. I have accepted.
    YES! YES! YES!

Thank you, Martin -- you are my hero!

    Happy Christmas to everyone.:T
