Wrote to Lloyds TSB after reading your advice, intially I got a reply saying they felt the policy hadn't been mis-sold. I wrote again and threatened to go to the ombusdman. Got a letter back yesterday from Lloyds saying they had "reviewed" my case and were refunding me a whopping £4108 plus interest!,
thanks Martin!!!!

:j Just had a letter from Northern Rock advising that they agree that I was missold ppi. I had even told the representative at the telephone that I had a pre existing medical condition but he still insisted that I take the ppi. A refund of £267 is on it's way. Thank you Martin. Next step - Council Tax.0

What were you reclaiming: I'd taken out a loan and was told I could only have it IF I took out insurance.
Who was the provider: Lloyds TSB
How much did you get back: "£5,225.46 plus any interest accured"
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: I only sent the very first template that is provided by Martin.
And then write your brief reclaim tale: I have accepted their generous offer which was made "as a gesture of goodwill". The bank was totally straight with me and we have finished our business on very good terms. I continue to bank with them and, with this level of honesty and promptness, I will continue to do so. From my letter to them, to their acknowledgement of my case and then their offer of a settlement was in total about 14 days.
It's not in my account yet but I have total faith in them. However..........!:money:0 -
What were you reclaiming: PPI on a Loan
Who was the provider: Lloyds TSB
How much did you get back: "£535.30 plus any interest accured"
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: First letter
And then write your brief reclaim tale: Was a little sceptical of this but thought what have we got to lose. My partner and I have 6 claims in with Lloyds at the moment for PPI on loans, credit cards plus bank charges. However sent the first letter off against this loan (from 2002) and received a reply 10 days later saying that they cant determine either way due to lack of paperwork so as a goodwill gesture have refunded the PPI (less a rebate as the loan was increased 2 years later) so £535.30 plus interest! Success!!! :T
Awaiting responses on the others but have a feeling they will fight these as there is associated paperwork saying that information about PPI was received. Going to try to Ombudsman route though.
As mentioned I was a little sceptical about all this, but for the price of one stamp, got a result - so there's nothing to lose - GO FOR IT!!
One down, 5 more to go .............0 -
I thought this section of the forum was for successes and failures, and that there was another discussion board for questions about PPI.
I have been on this morning to report my success, to show others that it really is worth having a go to reclaim PPI, only to have to trudge through loads of questions about whether people should claim or not.
As a new user I have regularly looked at the successes and failures to see how others are getting on, but it becomes a bit disheartening to read loads of questions rather than lots of positive successes. It might also put other newbies off if they dont see that others are having successes
Can the questions be moved to the right section on the forum please?

After seeing Martyn's appearance on Tonight (Fri 26th Oct), I remembered I had been mis-sold PPI.
In June 2006, when selling my house, I took out a £4000 loan with Lloyds TSB to cover solicitor's fees and other expenses. I explained that the loan would be paid off on the sale of my house a few months later. £1364 PPI was added to the loan. I settled the loan just under 6 months later, and I received a rebate of insurance which was used to reduce the settlement figure on my loan. This left a shortfall of just over £200 that I had to pay. When I took the loan out, this was not explained to me. I wouldn't have taken out the insurance if I had known.
However, after a quick call to Lloyds TSB loan department last week (they were aware of the TV report!), the matter was resolved in 5 minutes, and I am being reimbursed for the amount I paid, plus interest accrued!
Thanks Martyn for highlighting this, and also thanks to Lloyds TSB for their courteous and effective service in settling this!0 -
Reclaiming PPI on a Storecard from House of Fraser / GE Money
I have been told I will be getting a total of £2024.49 back!!
Two letters to them, four back - no need to go to the Financial Ombudsman.
Wrote to GE Money (27.9.07) asking for my money back as I had not requested, agreed or signed for PPI but had been paying for it on my maxed out storecard for the last 7 years. Received a letter back to say they were investigating the situation and would get back to me within 4 weeks. After two more letters from them and about 8 weeks (7.11.07) they wrote to confirm I had never agreed to or requested the PPI and they will be refunding me the following:
£1004.80 Premiums
£639.82 Interest
£379.87 Loss of cash payment (gesture of goodwill!!!)
Now the store card and my overdraft is paid off and Christmas is now a bit more welcome! - thank you MONEYSAVINGEXPERT.COM!!!!

Morning!
I've moved about 30 posts from this thread over to the PPI Reclaiming discussion thread so this one can be kept on track with success and failure reports. Could you post over on the other thread if you want to ask or answer questions?
Thanks

I wrote to Lloyds TSB about 2 weeks ago using Martins template. I stated that I felt I had been missold ppi due to staff being pushy and and implying the loan may not be agreed if I didn't get the insurance. I also stated that I tried cancelling the ppi in 2005 by phone. (Which they refused to do at the time. I also do not have the exact date I made the call.).
I took the 5 yr loan out in 2002.
This week I had a reply from Lloyds saying that despite not being able to find any record of my phone call in 2005, they are willing to reimburse my ppi payments for period between 2005 to 2007. This amounts to £300 plus interest. The total payments I have made amount to just over £1000.
I'm amazed they have responded so quickly
and with positive results! But should I accept their offer?
Thanks.0
