Re my ongoing application with Black Horse, got a letter today saying they'll be repaying me a total of £2664.29 being £2082.58 for the PPI and £581.71 statutory interest and the cheque should be sent to us within 7 days, needless to say that's our holiday for 2011 paid for :)
Many thanks to everyone for their help and advice, I'm so pleased cos I really didnt think I'd get anything back but thought nothing ventured nothing gained

  • To cut a long story short I took out PPI on my credit card a couple of years ago, the reason for this was to protect myself against redundancy, I later found myself redundant and found out that I wouldn't be able to claim against my insurance until my payment in lew
notice period was over, I feel that this was not fair as it was not made clear to me that this would happen, so for 3 months I had to carry on paying my credit card bill. Is this correct or should I be challenging them for compensation.

    Hi and welcome

Your able to make a reclaim with your reasons and of course the policy was obviously worthless to you as well.

Complete the questionnaire which replaced the template letter here:
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#reclaim

Send to the ones who set this up for you (head office), keep copies of all you send and receive in case you need to refer to this again, and you should expect a decision by 8 weeks, good luck.:)

Hi there, the wages in lieu were full pay, so you would still be recieving income. That is why you couldnt claim until that period was over, that is what happens in redundancy cases. You did claim it after this period didnt you?. Dont think you will have a case for mis sell here as they pay out for loss of income and your wages in lieu covered 3 months, so you were not suffering due to loss of income.
  • Hi,

Could someone off me some advice? Got a few cards and various insurances, when I ask the companies to send me the information for when I took out each policy how do I know where to look to see if PPI has been added?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi and welcome

You can request for a copy of your agreement (from when this was taken out) and if ppi was taken out this would be shown as ticked next to the insurance box.

All you do is write a simple letter, enclose a £1 for each agreement, request they send a copy of the agreement by 12 days, remember to enclose account numbers, these should be shown on statements, if you non longer have these, give them as many details as possible in order for them to track down your account(s).
Full name and any different surnames when the accounts were taken out, the same for addresses and your date of birth should help as well.

    Good luck.;)

    Your very welcome.;)

Also just to say, that if you still have active accounts, the monthly statements you receive - I believe will give details if your paying insurance.

And to make a reclaim, just complete the reclaiming questionnaire, this replaced the template letter on this site, and send to whoever set up the accounts (head office or complaints dept).

Keep copies of all you save and receive in case you need to refer to this again at some point.

They normally have 8 weeks to give you a decision, good luck.

You will find the reclaiming questionnaire here:
