Thanks for that Di my application was back in 2001, I believe that the PPI was pre-ticked it was sooo long ago!!!I have never opted to take out PPI on any products. I have the option to have ombudsman take a look at my case but would like to see all the evidence that Egg has put through am I able to request a copy of this? I only have until the 26th Oct to reply.

    Hiya

So the adjudicator have not upheld this for you then?
If so have they given you the opportunity to have this reviewed by the ombudsman himself?

Hopefully amersall who have had dealings with EGG will be along soon, can't remember if she purchased her's online or not, but maybe amersall will confirm soon.

I am aware that some online applications would not allow the application to go through if the ppi wasn't applied for, not sure if this would be the case for you, but thought I would mention it just in case.

Thanks di, it was online with northern rock for 2 loans, When i put the claim in, nr said that i had ticked the ppi box for both and the t&c on the website fully explained the ppi and had i read it i would have made the decision to not take this.I sent this fos and they upheld in my favour. As i as a consumer may not have had the "knowledge" to fully understand the "jargon" of what ppi meant to me with the list of terms and conditions, as if someone "explains" what the ppi was and how it would help me (or not) is better "understood". When northern rock came back with figures for ppi refund and how the loan stood from that point, the figures did not seem right and as i did not have the original agreements i could not dispute this.I requested my agreements from nr, and guess what? neither of the ppi boxes were ticked!!. I would have won on that alone.

    Not at all.

I believe that the application was at the time I applied an 'opt out' rather than me selecting the PPI leading people to belive that if opted out of would affect their application. Also I have said that I thought it was unfair to expect people to read the terms and conditons at the time of online application. I have never had any paperwork relating to the insurance and to this date have no idea what I was covered for.
Egg sent me a realtime copy of my application saying that I had selected the PPI cover but the printout did not even show a 'ticked box', so they have not in my view proved that it was me selecting the cover.

I think that more or less what I put. I know claiming CC PPI for online applications is quite difficult and am not sure how this will turn out but worth a go!
Hi there, read my post on here, i did not receive ins documents either, having read what you have put here it seems to me you have a good case with this as my application was not ticked either.I cannot understand why this has not been upheld as you have the agreement showing the ppi box was not ticked. The mind boggles"!!.

Yes di, this is par for the course it seems!. Although with this being a cc it would have been on the monthly statements and they could say that it would have been seen from the first statement and if ppi was not needed this should have been dealt with then.
