    PPI added to a loan
Asked for the Ombudsman’s letter got an offer letter instead

Followed the process outlined in your website filled out the questionnaire which was returned. After some time we revieved a full reply with a number to call if you werent happy with their explanation. I just rang up and asked for the our complaint to be referred to the Ombudsman a I wasnt happy with their version of events waited a while and got an offer letter from them. I accepted their offer and..
Received a refund of £9551 with interest of £2059 to the balance and a cheque for £3630. Nice

Whole process took about 4 months.

Thanks for your guidance Mr. MS.Expert

    Brilliant, well done and Congratulations!

Just wanted to let people know that we've had a wonderful result with Santander. We have a loan with a balance of £1600. Sent a letter in requesting reimbursement for mis-sold PPI (plus the questionnaire required), and today (within 2 weeks of sending the request), we've received a letter stating they will be reimbursing us for the entire amount plus 8% interest. No hassles, no arguments. Just agreed. It's all in writing and everything stating they will be reimbursing us £2300. So very pleased as we can pay off the balanace, and put the rest towards another debt.

    Just got refund of £3000!!!!

Took loan with Northern Rock in 2005. Was told PPI was compulsory in order to get the loan, didnt know until i read this site 2 months ago that it wasnt.

i followed your guide. All i did was fill out the questionnaire and send it to Northern Rock. Within 7 weeks they replied, upholding my complaint, refunding all ppi plus interest. RESULT!!! :j

Thank you soooo much, i only used this guide - no claims company, no ombudsman. Brilliant. :T

    UPDATE

For those successful in reclaiming, you might consider sending your acceptance form recorded delivery. I did, then phoned n rock asking if received it. Said no. I said that's interesting, sent recorded delivery, must contact post office right away. I was asked to hold, whisper whisper in the background then lo and behold my letter was discovered to have arrived after all.

Hi all it's some time since I popped in!!! My case for PPI against Egg credit card sold online. Case has been with FOS for a long time!!!!!!!!!!! Finally got reply basically saying that I did request PPI on application, Egg didn't explain T & C very well also the fact I never had any documentation. Her belief was that had it been explained to me I probably would have seen the benefits of having this cover!!!
Well Egg have never sent me anything proving that I 'ticked' the box and not them!!! As for me wanting to buy it if it had been explained to me better well who would ever know!!! I'm going to raise my concerns!!

    Any thoughts/advice gratefully received

Thanks di. You know, I work in a profession where integrity and ethics are very important. Used to think banks were same. Not any more, have had eyes opened, and horrified at the conduct. As usual it's the most vulnerable who really suffer. I'm wise to them now. What a terrific site this is, long live MSE :-)

    Hiya

So the adjudicator have not upheld this for you then?
If so have they given you the opportunity to have this reviewed by the ombudsman himself?

Hopefully amersall who have had dealings with EGG will be along soon, can't remember if she purchased her's online or not, but maybe amersall will confirm soon.

I am aware that some online applications would not allow the application to go through if the ppi wasn't applied for, not sure if this would be the case for you, but thought I would mention it just in case.
