currently have an ongoing claim with MINT, they had my letter in august, and have been sending me letters saying its been investigated etc, the last letter was 10 weeks ago, saying it will take 8 weeks for a decision, so i phoned them today and they say that due to the backlog of requests it will take longer, and that my case is going to be made a decision soon, and that i will have to wait a bit longer, is this acceptable?? anyone else had problems with MINT??
Yes I have, RBS completely refused to ophold the complaint which I frankly felt was a very clear mis sell. However, I have sent it to FOS and have now spoken to the adjudicator who is dealing with it, so will wait and see.0 -

Hiya
Well done to you.
I understand that some companies were not regulated until 2005, and the financial ombudsman service (FOS) are only able to investigate complaints that were governed/regulated by the FSA.
However, the fos have suggested the insurer/underwriter direction to many on here, so for confirmation, contact the fos and check on this.

Good luck and please let us know how you get on, thanks. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Found technicalities in paperwork for loan application and PPI.
Bank totally blanked me, but refusal contained errors.
Sent all lot to Ombudsman 6 months ago and claimed mis-sell on grounds of specific issues highlighted. This week letter back to say bank has capitulated. I will get thousands in full refund, costs charged, interest claim against capital lost plus mandatory 'sorry' from bank to me of extra 100 pds. RESULT. Thanks to this brilliant website. PS previously got load back from VISA as well for unfair charges. Cheers Martin.:beer:0 -

Emailed FOS after getting your reply but have heard nothing back. How long do you reckon I should leave it before trying again...don't want the adjudicator to get p****d off with me for pestering them. I am a little worried now that RBS will put my complaint on hold which seems a little unfair when I first contacted them last April!
On another note I requested an SAR from Capital Bank and sent a cheque for £10 which they cashed. Waited 40 days for a reply, then sent another letter giving them 7 days before I contacted the Information Commissioner to complain. Still heard nothing so contacted the commissioner (August) and have so far only received an acknowlegment letter. Do you know how long they should take to get Capital to send the SAR?
Once again the banks are happy to cash my cheque but not to give me the information I have paid for...I think I should start charging for all the post, stamps, phone calls etc etc!
Thanks for your help.
Received the email below from the FOS yesterday:
Apologies for not replying to your email last week, but we have finally had an update from RBS on these cases. May I first explain the issue that we have had:
RBS offered to refund the last 6 years premiums paid on your PPI policy (their argument being that they do not have to keep records longer than 6 years), however they state that you have not paid anything towards PPI in those 6 years and therefore no refund is due. We have been is discussions with RBS regarding this issue but unfortunately they are not willing to change their stance, and therefore I must now pass your case to one of our adjudication teams to do a full investigation. An adjudicator will be in contact with you as soon as your case has been allocated. In the meantime, if you have any evidence of paying PPI premiums beyond 6 years ago you could forward this to us.
Regarding your query about contacting the CEO of RBS, this is entirely your decision...if you believe this will help your case then please do so.
Yours sincerely

I actually thought the case was with an adjudicator as I was told it had been assigned to one in January. Any ideas on where to go next?0 -

Hi Di3004 can ask your advice l was told if a company was regulated by GISC rules and Welcome was regulated from Feb 2003 then they are still governed by FSA rules and if you where missold a PPI policy by them after Feb 2003 you can claim.
Please advise0 -

Hi KIMY, hope your well, I believe you are correct.;)
Its like banks were regulated by GISC before the FSA taken over, can't remember how far back GISC covered banks but your still able to make a reclaim in this case.:)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
