PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Using the templates on MoneysavingExpert.com i was able to get back the PPI from the loan I took out in 2007 which was mis-sold from Nationwide.
Had to write back in and tell Martin Lewis you are a star. I followed your plan word for word and I'm getting back £1322.88 plus interest.0 -
Thank you Martin! First I reclaim all my bank charges from Barclays, now huge success with my PPI charges! :j:beer::j
I sent a covering letter and completed questionnaire two months ago to my credit card company, Smile.co.uk. I got a reply after a month saying they are dealing with the matter, making enquires but will get back to me no later than 28 September (a few days before I could go to the FOS)
Today I received a letter informing me that, following the investigation into my PPI complaint that the bank are prepared to offer a full refund of the premiums paid, the interest applied to the premiums and an additional 8% interest on these amounts totalling £7087.21. This all dates back to early 2004 when the credit card was taken out! I have no memory of ever agreeing to the PPI being added to my account, and until a few months ago had no idea I could claim them back!
I urge anybody else in a similar situation to at least try to reclaim, I got all that money back and interest all for the cost of a first class stamp!
Thank you again Martin
Fantastic :T:j well done and Congratulations!:beer:The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

hi all
can someone please advise me as im having a nitemare with Welcome Finance and i-sm@rt. I started to use i-sm@rt to reclaim PPI insurance from welcome finance. i-sm@rt messed me around told continual lies each time i called to chase up progress with my claim, in the end i contacted welcome finance myself and got information needed. I them emailed i-sm@rt and told them i no longer wished to deal with them, i also sent a fax to welcome telling them i withdrew authority for ism@rt to act on my behalf and was told by a manager that they would only deal with me now. My offer changed 3 times in a week and i finally got my money which was reduced by 625.87. you can imagine my disgust a week later when i received a letter from ism@rt stating that they were waiting for paperwork requested from welcome regarding my claim and when i telephoned welcome they apologised stating that even though i had withdrew authority they had in fact faxed all information regarding my claim to ims@rt! I complained about it and they immediately offered me £100 compensation which I declined as this didnt even come close to cost of calls and my time trying to sort out a mess they had caused unnecessarily. i am currently fighting with both ism@rt and welcome with regards to this. welcome finance have breached the data protection act by giving out my information without my consent and ism@rt have also made a bug mistake after requesting info after i told them not to. could someone please help as i am banging my head against a brick wall0 -

Hi there
Sorry to hear of this.
Have you tried ringing the Ministry of justice (MOJ) about this matter?
They may be able to give some useful advice on this one for you, I hope they do.
http://www.justice.gov.uk/contactus.htm
Explain the situation and ask if there is anything that can be done, maybe someone else on here will have some other useful ideas for you, but give these a call when you can anyway and please let us know the outcome, good luck and cheers.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
I have already been onto the ministry of justice and they cant get involved as its regarding a fee!!! I have had a letter from ism@rt 6 weeks ago which said i was still responsible for their fees. i must say since i emailed them in response to that stating the date and time and header of the email stating i no longer wished to deal with them ive had nothing. regarding welcome finance i can have them done for breaching the data protection act but all i want is to be reimbursed for my costs of calls time etc as i have spent hours trying to get this sorted and as they were at fault i feel they should pay for this! am i asking too much??? the manager of welcome finance received a letter from me giving him 10 days to respond with regards to my complaint but nothing and you spend an hour trying to get through to them to be told im sorry mrs beecham he is busy!!!!! arggggggh its driving me mad i just want my money and an explanation as to why this big mistake happened0

Thanks Martin you are a star. On following your guidelines and letter templates I wrote to Egg with regard to my current loan. Within a week I received a settlement offer of 5000 plus. Following this success I wrote a further letter to Egg with regard to PPI on my credit card and again within 5 days received a settlement offer of 2500. I accepted both offers immediately. I cannot believe it was that simple. Thank you for the advise you offer and keep up the good work.0
