Thanks folks.
To be honest, I never asked for a set figure. I just sent a copy of the agreement which had the PPI amount on it. The 8% was added on by HFC themselves.
I claimed on the basis that I was told I would be looked at more favorably if I took out the PPI. I think it helped that I could also tell them exactly who sold it to me as I still had their business card hehe.
Absolute quality - what a result!
It gives me some hope.0 -
Hi All,
I hope someone out there can help me out with this!
After 8 weeks of chasing down MBNA for PPI payments over the last 17 years!! I've received a letter back today saying they reject the claim as they're records suggest my completed form contradicts they're records. I feel this is semantics due to the length of time ago that I pened the account. Also they're saying that they sent me the policy details when I took out the card & gave me 30 days to cancel the policy having sent it to me. Following this they list 4 seperate occasions that they have sent me updated policy t&c's.
So is this standard procedure? & should I just continue with pursuing this now through the FSO as they say this is there final response.
Any help/advice anyone can give will be greatly received, I reckon they could owe me £7k + interest so don't want to let this go if there is still a chance of success.
Thanks in advance guys
Good luck - I have got a couple with them going back a long while - but not 17 years!0 -

Hi Trev,
This is word for word the same letter that they sent to me last week, so yes it must be a standard response. I have now gone to the FOS with the claim.0 -
Hi,
I don't know if I'm on the right forum section for this enquiry as I'm still new to all this, so apologies if I am & here goes:
I wrote my 1st post on here last week explaining how I was going to attempt to reclaim what I believe to be mis-sold PPI on secured loan I currently have with Loans co.uk/GE Money;
Because it's a relatively large loan & my monthly repayment is £390 I didn't want to be without any cover at all so wanted to cancel the existing, expensive & 'frontloaded' PPI that was built into original loan & replace it with a cheaper monthly option.
I applied for an income protection policy with Cardiff Pinnacle which would have been just £23 per month but just yesterday got a reply from them to say I hadn't been accepted (this despite me taking out a new mortage protection plan with them just last month & my circumstances not having changed at all!?)
Anyway, just wondering if anyone could recommend any alternative, reputable providers for the same?
Many thanks0 -

Hi evie
Sorry to hear this.
But do not back down and yes complain t the Financial ombudsman service (FOS).
Did they confirm this was the final decision and enclose the leaflet details of the FOS, they must do this first then you complain to the FOS, but otherwise ask them to reconsider and state that you do not agree with their findings.
I understand what you received is totally standard, we all have to sign and receive terms and conds, but there are still reasons they have overlooked despite being sent them.
Keep at them evie.
If your to make the complaint to the FOS now, you can do this online by down loading and print the FOS complaints form, or you can ring them to arrange for them to send on in the post.
Remember as well to enclose "copies" of your letters received which includes the final decision and any of your evidence (in copies) to enclose with the complaints form.

Good luck, please keep us posted.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hi there
That is strange.
Have they explained why they will not accept you?
I would ring them to ask them for an explanation on this if they have not given any reason for this on the letter.
And I assume there would be alternatives, so maybe you could check the insurance website link here to see what it brings you:
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/cheap-loan-insurance
Or hopefully others on here will have some advice on this one for you.
The best of luck on your reclaiming as well, please let us know how you get on your insurance matter and the reclaiming, cheers so much.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
