Just to let people know that this morning, the day after the initial 8 weeks were up, I have received an offer from HFC!

I only sent back their questionnaire, so for the sake of two first class stamps, I've got back nearly £4.5k!

    Awesome - well done!!!
I am just getting ready to send a claim to them - Did you claim PPI+CI+8%?
That is what I am hoping to do.

If you dont mind me asking on what grounds did you claim?

    Thanks folks.

To be honest, I never asked for a set figure. I just sent a copy of the agreement which had the PPI amount on it. The 8% was added on by HFC themselves.

I claimed on the basis that I was told I would be looked at more favorably if I took out the PPI. I think it helped that I could also tell them exactly who sold it to me as I still had their business card hehe.

  • Hi All,
I hope someone out there can help me out with this!
After 8 weeks of chasing down MBNA for PPI payments over the last 17 years!! I've received a letter back today saying they reject the claim as they're records suggest my completed form contradicts they're records. I feel this is semantics due to the length of time ago that I pened the account. Also they're saying that they sent me the policy details when I took out the card & gave me 30 days to cancel the policy having sent it to me. Following this they list 4 seperate occasions that they have sent me updated policy t&c's.
So is this standard procedure? & should I just continue with pursuing this now through the FSO as they say this is there final response.
Any help/advice anyone can give will be greatly received, I reckon they could owe me £7k + interest so don't want to let this go if there is still a chance of success.
    Thanks in advance guys

    Hi and welcome

Yes that seems to be a standard response.

If they have given the final decision and enclosed the leaflet details of the FOS, then I would move on to these now, if they have mentioned the FOS but not enclosed the fos leaflet details, you could ask them to reconsider.

To make a complaint to the FOS, you can do this online by downloading and printing off a complaints form, or ring them next week when they are open to arrange for them to send one in the post.
Remember to enclose copies of your decision and any copies of evidence you have to support your complaint.

Good luck with this and please keep us posted.;)

  • Hi & Thanks for the quick response. They have sent me the FSO leaflet with the letter so I'll move straight to that step. Out of interest how long usually do the FSO take to draw a conclusion on these cases?
    Thanks again for your help

    Hi Trev

That's the best thing to do then.

As soon as they receive your complaints form, by about 2-3 weeks they should send you a letter of acknowledgement, then it will be in the queing system to be passed on to an adjudicator.

This may take some time, but they do seem to be moving on a little quicker than they used to, possibly more staff have been taken on to try to keep up with the demand of these complaints.

So I can only give examples really, say about 6 months to 18 months if the case gets too complexed, but sometimes it can be as little as 8 weeks if all going well at the first stages with the adjudicator.

If your in any financial hardship, do let them know and request for fast tracking, they will consider this for you, however there is a queing system for this as well also.

    Good luck.;)

Using your templates I attempted to claim back PPI on a Loan currently running from Barclays.
It took a while but today I received a cheque for £2758.86, which included £209.43 interest. It involved taking out a new loan but that was no problem and obviously the payments are a lot less and the period has not increased.
The final letter from Barclays said it was all my fault and I was kept informed of what i was getting into and was given ample oportunity to cancel in the early days of the loan. However they could not find the paperwork associated with my loan and decided to find in my favour.
Thanks for all your advice and a brilliant site. I am telling all my friends

Mines been running for well over two years now

Got a letter from ombudsman last week saying that Lloyds have accepted, and do I wish to accept their offer. I've not had a monetary offer... and the details that ombudsman sent don't cover my case, as my credit card has been closed for yonks... and still with an outstanding balance.

I sent the letter back anyway accepting, didn't see what else I could do. Spose I'm just waiting to hear from Lloyds now as to how much, if anything, they will pay me.

Can't even find my original paperwork where I worked out how much I had paid in PPI as its that long ago since I started the reclaim procedure!!
Hi there, and congrats on your win :j:j at least you got there in the end x
