Thanks for the advice, i will send it through to the FOS. Is there a template letter for the FOS?
On another subject, I had a loan with the Nationwide in 2002 and paid PPI on that, is it too far in the past to claim???
Thanks again
Sdstew
Hi there
You can write a letter in your own words, as the template letter was replaced by a questionnaire on this site if you want to complete that instead.
If you write.....
Request they refund you all you have paid in PPI, plus interest on the account. (Remember to give them your account number details).
Give your reasons of reclaiming - tell them as much as possible to help your case.
Ask that they comply by 8 weeks.
Then confirm - if you do not receive a favourable response, you will consider taking your complaint further such as with the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) or the courts.
If you complete the questionnaire, then send to whoever responsible for setting this up from the start.
Keep copies for your reference as well.
You will find the questionnaire here as stage one of reclaiming.

You can do both of the above if you want to, its up to you, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi...
Sorry to jump in with this question, as I am sure it has been covered before...
I am better off filling out the Questionairre on MSE and doing this myself than going through someone like Gladstone Brookes who I have recently contacted in regards to getting back my PPI?
My main concern is that HSBC would be more inclined to pay out to a company rather than an individual?
My reason for feeling I was missold PPI is that:
1. I was unemployed at the time of taking out the Loan with PPI
2. I was told I had to take it out to get the Loan
On the above points would be worth carrying this out myself....Gladstone Brookes seemed to think I had a good case??
Thanks in advance for your help with this
Hi and welcome
Are these a claiming company?
I would be very careful in using them to be honest, lots of people have had no end of hassle and of course they will charge, where if you have a go yourself you keep all your refund.
Claims companies tell everyone they have good cases, so that they can get their custom from you.
If you've only just signed into them, and are able to cancel with them, maybe you could think about doing this and having a go yourself.;)
I have left some info on reclaiming on the above post, but ask for any other help if required.
Going by your reasons though, its possible you do have a case. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

GB are a claiming company and had my alarm bell ringing when the initial £50 was dropped to £10 when I said I couldn't make payment till this Friday!?
I think this is something I will try going at alone then.
Thanks again and I will post with any further queries and the outcome of my claim0 -

Quick question, I also claimed for a loan from 2001 and they say they are not in a position to investigate it as it was paid up over six years ago. I have a copy of the paperwork. Does anyone think it is worth pursuing?
Hi Happy shrimper - I managed to claim from the 90's because I still had the paper work so you should be fine - just make sure you state the following
" I have only recently become aware of the fact that I had PPi on this loan/you could reclaim mis-sold PPi/blabla" (Whatever is applicable)
The rule is 6 years from when you became aware - not from when the loan started/ended etc;)
Just had a phone call from the Financial Ombusman's office. Egg have agreed to pay the 8% interest on the claim they paid back the premiums on. They have also agreed to pay the premuim and interest on the second claim, after refusing to look at it. Another MSE forums inspired success!:beer:0 -

I have been made an offer from FirstPlus but they have said that the interest that has accrued should be added to my loan as they would not be following the FOS guidelines. Does anyone know if that is correct? I personally think they are pulling a fast one!
By the way this website is brilliant0 -

Hiya
I have just left you a post with a FOS calculation link which may help on the other thread you posted, but if in doubt ring the FOS as a general query to make sure on this first, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
