  • Hi all,
    Quick question.
Anyone have any advice on how long it normally takes before the companies pay the money they have agreed that they will pay?
I heard from 2 comapnies about 5 weeks ago saying they would grant the refunds of the ppis. I sent back the agreement forms for both immediately. No word back as yet.
Is it time to write another letter applying some pressure?
Neither letter gave a phone number, handily...
    Thanks.

    Hi

    Well done to you.

What are the name of the companies, we can try checking the contact details for you.
I know all companies vary with their timescales on paying out, but if 5 weeks have passed, I would chase them up and ask them when you should be receiving your refund, good luck.

  • Hi Everyone,
After several months of reading this forum & as a result making succesful PPI claims against Northern Rock, Halifax, Barclaycard (as well as 2 ongoing against my arch 'nemesis' Lloyds TSB that are with the Ombudsman), I've decided to take the plunge & join up & make my 1st post!

Anyway, I've decided to now tackle a 'big one' against Loans.co.uk/GE Money & was wondering if anybody had made succesful claims against or have any experience of dealing with these?
In Sept 2007, I took out a secured agreement for £25500 (I now realise very unwisely in hindsight) with GE Money via Loans.co.uk.
Recently I've been reading the paperwork & although the loan is for 15 years, the policy only covers me for the 1st 5 (and I'm already 3 yrs into that!); the amount of the policy was for a total of £7153.65 & if paid back over duration of loan is £13462; also I was self-employed at the time I took loan out, so feel I've been mis-sold all ends up!
    Because it's a large loan amount I don't want to have any cover at all so I've shopped around for a more suitable policy, but am having difficulty getting info out of GE Money as to how much of my monthly repayment with them (£390) is taken up by their PPI so I can make a comparison - they just won't give a straight answer & say that I have to request in writing which I have done but to no avail;

    So I suppose I have 3 queries:
    - Is this a case of mis-selling?
    - Has anybody here made succesful claims against Loans.co.uk or GE Money?
    - Based upon my figures above - can anybody give me an approx monthly repayment fig on my loan without PPI?

Sorry, it's a bit of a long one but many thanks in advance for any help

    Hi and welcome

You have a good case here.

    The answers to your questions...

    1. Yes, being sold one of these costly rip off policies you have a high success rate in making a reclaim, these are now banned and frowned upon, so for this reason you have therefore been mis sold this single costly policy that you would be paying out for - for the life of the loan, yet your only protected for the first 5 years!

    2. Yes, there have been high success rates of uphold cases with these companies, but if they do not resolve in your favour, then the FOS will certainly deal with this and resolve this for you.

    3. I am not good on the calculations side of it as interest would also come into it as well, but someone I'm sure will have a look at them for you.

And if successful, you should be able to request for a detailed written breakdown on your accounts.

    The best of luck.;)

not exactly their words "as a courtesy and in an effort to resolve my complaint to my satisfaction, they will consider a refund of premiums if I provide proof that I was self employed when policy was activated" however prior to that they said "I confirm that even if you were self employed, you were eligible for the PPC; however, there are certain criteria that must be met in order for you to claim"
They then went on to say they had exhausted their complaint procedure and will not enter into any further correspondence regarding the matter unless instructed to do so by fos. does this mean that they will not respond to request for SAR that I've been reading about?
If i were you i would send them proof that you were self employed, you have a win here and if all they require is proof you were self employed then give them what they are asking for.If you take this to fos you will get the same reply, as the company have offered to refund you. Good luck with this and keep us posted.Btw was your reason for mis sell that you were self employed? as if it was you will have to provide proof of this there is no getting out of this.

    Many thanks for your reply!
I've just today applied for an income protection policy to put against this loan which I'm sure will be cheaper & more effective than the current one & once acceptance for that arrives in post will cancel existing policy & begin claim.
Just one more question (at the risk of sounding stupid!):
Do I write to Loans.co.uk (do they have a cust relations email address) or GE Money?
    Thanks again!

    Hiya and your welcome.;)

Glad you have it covered, well done.:T

If it were loans.co.uk that arranged/brokered the loan, then yes its them you write to.
I do not have email details on these, maybe someone on here does and will post them up for you, meanwhile though if I come across them I shall post them to you.

If you can though try to keep everything in hard copy post to them.

    Good luck.;)
