Well after having 2 sim cards and 2 redemption certificates - guess what? Had my first bill from Orange today and I am on the wrong contract. I am on an 18 month contract 600 minutes but I signed up for a 12 month 300 minutes. Been on hold on the 0870 number for ages and cannot get through. Just rung Orange who cannot help as they say that phones4u have put me on this contract.

It is a nightmare as emails are not answered and the telephone number is premium rate.

Out of curiosity, would a mobile retailer be paid more commission if they signed up customers to 18 month contracts rather than 12 month?

Yeah a lot of people have said that but it's a hassle, regardless of how small, to determine which SIM card is the correct one. Besides it's possible to get FREE SIM cards from just about all the networks. So "having a free SIM card" is no more hassle than me ordering one online for free.

The agreement and despatch note have a SIM card number on them. The envelopes containing the sims (and the sims) also have a number on. Compare and pick the one that matches with the one on your agreement. Not much of a hassle. Takes 10 seconds at the most.

called up Vodafone for my 'wrong contract' and they tell me I'm on 500+500 at £40 so they are at odds with what my welcome pack said. They also said I hadn't had a first bill generated yet (which I find a little odd) but will wait and see. One good thing they did do was allow me to swap 250 of my texts for Stop the Clock (I double checked I will be charged the same £40/month and yes, this is the case).

Interesting point is that as your contract is with Orange and you have informed them that this is wrong then they should do something about it. As far as I see it if you have informed them it is the wrong contract then legally they should be obliged to sort it out. Lets hear from those lawyers out there.;)

For people not receiving emails, check in your Spam folder. That's where my immediate confirmation message was and a subsequent email informing me of connection.

I also had the incorrect Vodafone Anytime40 initial connection letter stating 500mins + 250texts for £39.99 - but this is actually 500+500 for £40 (as originally advertised on m2yd website) when you check with Vodafone by phone or website.

No serious problems here so far...

the saint, if you think that the telephone number is not a Premium rate then I suggest you look at www.freeweb.telco4u.net/rachelf/

Non-09 NGNs being used as Premium numbers has been admitted formally by both BT and Ofcom now belatedly. The only difference is the intent to deceive!

Free sim card as in a pay month one....u wont be able to do a sim swap on a regular pay as u go simcard
    ...................
Diana to sort that out, that contract will need to be disconnected and then reconnected with the right tariff ...that is a bad mistake to make ....

Another note ...ok more GP is made by the company however more gp ....not much and also i doubt they get commision...However what you got to realise if they put u on a 18 when its ment to be 12 then it had to be returned and then reordered ...which over the net could be very terrible and would hit there compliance very hard .....which would mean no bonus's for the people running that site .....

When i ment before that it could be sorted i ment more of things like your on racoon but wanted to be on dolphin....i didnt mean changing from 18 to 12 LOL ....

I was annoyed with them because i work for p4u an i have good credit history and i have contracts with three, voda, and o2 ....this would have been my first with orange but they entered all my details different ...i wanted my direct debits done off my barclays account which is new and only had it for 3 months ...they entered 4 year 8 months ....because of this it refered and i know this before once it refers you will need to connect it and get aut code which u enter and it comes out on the contract ,.....

Why enter peoples details wrong in order to get a sale? Its not like they wasted hours with me. Also by entering my details wrong they could have got me a decline ...i was not happy at all when i discovered this on my contract!!
