My phone from phones4u came with TWO sim cards! Must have got the one belonging to MTS. Had a right game trying to register the phone with orange as I didn't know which sim card to use. Was on the phone for over an hour trying to sort out the mess. I have now received TWO redemption certs through the post! What a nightmare.0

Hi Diana11;Please tell me how many days after you recieved your Phone did you recieve redemption certs, i'm waiting for mine 10 days now. T&C say within 14 days. (impatient i guess)Be good to the young on their way up you might need them on your way down.0 -
I looked at some of their deals on their web site. I then commenced to purchase one - a cashback deal; but when I got to the terms and conditions and read them very carefully, having been stung already by another distributor, I stopped. They state on their web site that if you have any queries about their terms and conditions you may e-mail their customer services to clarify the issues. I did. They did not even have the courtesy to reply, because they knew if they gave me qualification in writing they would not have a leg to stand on.
If you read their terms and conditions very carefully they are very tricky. They have all sorts of clauses to enable them to default on paying out the cashback at their sole discretion !!!! The way these dealers work is that they expect to pay out on the agreed cashbacks at the start, to establish a credence in the marketplace. Then they start the fraudulent approach later after they have reached their intended quota of paid cashbacks. They thus ensure that they have got clauses in their terms and conditions right from the start which enable them to default on paying the cashback when they decide to.
It really is a matter of caveat emptor. I would not touch one of their supposed cashback deals with terms and conditions like theirs. The fact that they do not respond to any targeted queries about the tricky clauses in their terms and conditions tells you everything you need to know before you risk committing and being ripped off later.0 -
Someone mentioned the "at their sole discretion" part of their T&Cs in another thread about mobiles2yourdoor and the replies to that thread suggested that there was no way such a condition would stand up in court.
But I do agree with you it seems this company leaves a lot to be desired. Let's summarise so far in this thread:
- People have not received their SIM with the phone
- People have received 2 SIMs instead of 1
- People have not received their free gift
- People have not received their redemption certificates
- People have been told they cannot change their address
- People have been sold clearance phones with no indication the phone is a clearance product
- People have been placed on the wrong contract
- People have had orders cancelled for nonsense reasons and not been informed
- People get no response to queries both email and phone queries
- People get no order confirmation whether the order is successful or not
- People do not receive a copy of the Terms & Conditions of the offer
Hmm, ok now I feel really bad about posting this thread in the first place ;-(0 -

Perhaps pengranger might be in a position to comment on these problems?0 -

So youre the one to blame, ey? Shame on you.
Spunky - Regarding their credibility, its always hard to tell just how useless a company is. As a general rule people with no problems dont tend to go around saying how great a company is so youre always going to see a lot more negative comments than positive ones. Thats not limited to just phone companies either.
As it stands, the only thing I know for sure is that the deals on the site look good and so far (Delayed sim card aside) everything looks in order. Customer service seems to be on the ball as well. Whether it remains that way or not, Ill let you know in a years time.
DanG - Id imagine that the terms and conditions are only there to cover themselves; theyre probably similar to what "phones 4 u" and other companies have. Sort of a get out of jail free card should their financial world come crumbling down. Take a look at the carphone warehouse or dialaphone - theyve been going for ages and they still pay people their promised cashback. While I wouldnt be surprised if some company out there was willing to try this, I think that in general your outlook may just be a little bit cynical.0 -

- People have not received their SIM with the phone
This happens with every company at one time or another
- People have received 2 SIMs instead of 1
Buy one get one free
- People have not received their free gift
Free gifts are supposed to be sent within 28 days, this hasn't passed
- People have not received their redemption certificates
After how long?
- People have been told they cannot change their address
Which was cleared up quickly
- People have been sold clearance phones with no indication the phone is a clearance product
Not true, read again
- People have been placed on the wrong contract
Are you sure?
- People have had orders cancelled for nonsense reasons and not been informed.
Lucky escape?
- People get no response to queries
sadly the norm.
