Unfortunately it's meant I'm used to paying nothing (after cashback) for my phones now, so looking for the next good deal from them!

Me 2. Whats the best youve found? 13m free on an 18m contract? Make sure you use Quidco as well!!!

It is sad.............unless Dialaphone/P4U are going to offer great (free'ish) deals again.

But I thought you liked the net division of Phones4U ?????

Genuine question, no hidden agenda - Who does, in your opinion, offer the best deals at the moment, putting aside the hoops one might have to go through to get cashback? (Taking into account Quidco as well, as long as they do honour that?)

    Thanks.

I do; but not all sites belonging to the same company offer the same deal - and this one was the best of the lot.

"Best" requires an individual hierarchy of preferences (as far as non-Phones4u sites are concerned). All the "best" are only best because of the deals - not the ease and honesty of claiming (or likelihood of being around for long enough to claim). My views haven't changed much since my fairly recent post on my guide (which you saw) - although Mobiles2yourdoor is now "deceased" and the jury is still out on one of the others because my (now varied) but relatively limited experience with one of them is insufficient to reach firm conclusions.

The best deals of late also change more frequently (with a few exceptions). There are a fair few totally free deals (but from riskier dealers) and lots of near free deals (which are profitable by selling the phone and/or using cashback sites) from cpw clones - but in all these cases entering into any cashback contract should not be done lightly or without PROPER - and I DO mean proper! - research and consideration (as opposed to popping on here to ask questions having done practically none!).

As for myself; I currently have 7 contracts from 4 dealers and I look after many more for a few other people. "Best" means most profitable to me at present - but then I won't expose myself to excess risk with multiple contracts from dealers who MIGHT not be around to sue... therefore until those particlaur contracts have progressed through their cashback I would stick with Mobiles.co.uk and/or E2Save. One particular deal from the former I have ordered several times for myself and others and that would be my next catch - and where I would take any of my people who need further contracts, in their case because it's "safer" with my guidance.

Thanks for that. That's as I assess the current situation too. I have just helped another youngster to get a cashback deal set up through mobiles.co.uk/Quidco.

The first person I helped got their cashbacks without incident and I am hopeful for the next one too, but I do follow your advice on keeping on top of the dates etc with a checklist/calendar and have no worries bout taking it all the way if necessary.

And i am 100% with you about keeping transactions as risk-free as possible by buying from a company that should still be around in a couple of years' time, even if a more financially attractive carrot is being dangled by an outfit whose longevity may not be so guaranteed.

When people study and follow all the groundrules there should be no insurmountable problem provided the dealer is still around - hence cpw. The trouble is, very few people do follow all the groundrules - or even research them beforehand. Most of the time they will get away with it - but when a dealer tries it on (or they make a mistake) it is sometimes already too late simply because they haven't.

It puzzles me that many people rush into the promise of a free lunch just because it's served up by a brand name; it's only free is you make them pay the bill - and sometimes you have to!

M2YD's deals were comparable to Dialaphone over the last few months. OH got a deal in September and we went with Dialaphone as it was a month more free.

RIP M2YD - thank you for free phones and calls over the past 3 years.

The deals may have been similar over the last few months - but not for the two years before that, when they were totally free, totally user friendly and totally honest! But, then, Dialaphone (which did generally have a very good reputation for a few years) only became part of Phones4u about a year ago. Over the last few months no Phones4u sites have been competitive with cpw and one or two small dealers - probably because the loss of great deals coincided with one devil (Vodafone) getting back into bed with another (cpw).
