the saint, if you think that the telephone number is not a Premium rate then I suggest you look at www.freeweb.telco4u.net/rachelf/

Non-09 NGNs being used as Premium numbers has been admitted formally by both BT and Ofcom now belatedly. The only difference is the intent to deceive!

Had a quick look at your link, like I said, 0870 is not a premium rate number. :)

If you complain to ICSTIS (Whom regulate premium rate numbers) about an 0870 number they won't be interested. Ask yourself why? :A
Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.
  • I'm afraid I tend to differ! 0870 AND 0845 numbers are premium. Any number which forces people to pay more than a geographical number is premium rate by any sensible and honest definition! Also to be taken into account is that companies using 0870 numbers take a cut of the cost as pure profit - which also makes it a premium number in my book and is which is why I totally detest them! All else is semantics. As for ICSTIS, I'm not sure they're actually interested in very much at all!

I think the point being made is that many customers regard numbers such as 0870 or even 0845 as premium numbers. As such customers are being made to pay for even holding on and sometimes being cut off after a certain time. If we as customers keep complaining then eventually things might change but if we just do nothing they are unlikely to.

Ive noticed theyve changed their deals. The two phones with the free Wii now have no mention of cashback.

BT changed the category of 0870, 0871, 0845, 0844, 070 PNS in their price list because they are effectively Premium numbers. Ofcom have publicly admitted on at least one BBC broadcast that these numbers are being used as Premium numbers. The reason that Ofcom are moving 0871 control over to ICSTIS (who are now changing their name to Phonepayplus) is that it is a Premium number in all but name, but with call queuing allowed. [Call queuing is supposed to be prohibited with Premium numbers.]

Whether a number is officially classed as being a Premium number or not makes no difference whatever to reality. If a vehicle has a motor, wheels and a means of driving and steering - it is a motor vehicle. This is exactly the attempt at delusion with so many things today - motorised pavement scooters are motor vehicles. Inflation is a clandestine tax levied by governments. What you may choose to call anything to conceal your deceit and evil intent makes no difference to what it actually is!
  • I agree totally with that, DanG!

Well put DanG. It's about time people stood up to this sort of shameless tactics.

In the meantime use http://www.saynoto0870.com/search.php wherever possible.
  • Oh for those days when if a company were busy you would get the engaged signal. Hey it meant you did not get charged. I am sure the phone companies have the technology to introduce a system where you could queue and only get charged when the system accepted your call from a recognised source. This of course would have to rely upon the integrity of the company to then not keep you hanging on after your call was accepted.

I must warn others who may be contemplating any purchase/contract from mobiles2yourdoor. I decided after all the problems with cashback and these devious, cheating mobile distributors to go for a deal with a supposed Nintendo Wii free this time instead. This is supposed to be delivered after 28 days of connection. However it seems that mobiles2yourdoor may have found yet another technique of cheating. Their terms and conditions state that if you cancel your contract you are not eligible for the supposed free Nintendo Wii.

I have received a letter from mobiles2yourdoor today with a prepaid envelope to return my mobile phone claiming that I have cancelled my contract !!! I have done no such thing. It seems this may be the latest scam. If they can claim you have cancelled the contract then they do not have to provide the incentive free gift. I immediately sent a reply of course stating that I have never cancelled my contract after 7 days.

Has anyone else had this same experience with mobiles2yourdoor? I will let you know on here what happens after 28 days. It begins to look like yet another court case which I had hoped to avoid. Also by the way when I received the mobile phone there was a problem with the connection. The phone was not connected at all. I had to ring the network who had to give me a new number and connect me.

I begin to suspect that this company is even worse than the others !! They cannot get anything right and are out to cheat you if they can get away with it. Watch out and avoid them !
