    Hi all,

I'm having problems getting a new deal and need a bit of guidance.

I tried to get two Virgin sim onlys from e2save (one for brother) but you can only get one conrtact and he's got it.

So I tried for an O2 cashback deal through e2save but 02 but failed 02's credit check (don't know how, have checked credit file and it's clear).

I've found a website called mobiles2yourdoor.co.uk with some decent looking full refund cashback deals on Vodaphone (I'm not bothered which handset etc).

They're part of the group thatowns phones4you and there's £45 Quidco cashback.

Anyone know anything about them? Got nothing back from a search of this forum.

    Many thanks.

I took one out wth them last year. So far I have made 2 claims without any problems. Nice and easy rules to follow. They send you a cashback claim form and this has a claim date on it. At the date send your latest bill in your possession with the claim form. They send you a cheque wogether with a new claim form.

I thought it was far easier than the price match terms that e2save were doing at the time.

The credit check was probabaly nothing of the sort. cpw has its own silly rules when it comes to the number of contracts anyone can get in any period. If you just got the Virgin sim you wouldn't usually be able to get another contract for a while. The emails they send under those circumstances are completely misleading.

There is a whole thread on Mobiles2yourdoor; the VERY least you should do is find it and read it carefully. The same goes for threads on Phones4u.

Finally, you sound like a relative novice. I would recommend you think once, twice three times AND more and read my guide before even thinking of embarking on ANY cashback deal, especially nowadays:-

    Thanks to both of you!

I'm not a total novice, ran a couple of cashback deals for my brother and myself for a couple of years before getting good retention deals last year.

I'm not the most organised person in the world so my strategy was to make up large brown stamped, addressed enveloped with the date they were to be sent and bill number and stick it to the side of the fridge. I then put a big number on each bill when it came and filed it, eg 1/6 etc. I know how strictly the terms are enforced and that it has its pitfalls.

Couldn't get anything decent this time so decided to switch. V interesting comments about the credit check. The girl on the phone actually told me to check my credit record as well! Never mind.

Any advice on good value alternatives to cashback deals appreciated.
  • Hi - 1st post.

I set up an account with Mobiles 2 Your Door a few days ago - still within 7 day cancellation period for the £480 cashback deal.

In order to get all my phone numbers into the new phone, I put my old T Mobile SIM into it and copied the numbers across.

Would Mobiles 2 Your Door have any way of knowing this, and would it invalidate all potential future cashback claims?

    Thanks

I'm about to claim my first cashback and just want to check here first to ensure all goes well and it may also help others.

My connection date was 19th Aug07 and the cashback form states valid claim date as 15-02-08.

I've assumed Aug07 is month 1 and therefore I need to send statement for Jan08(month 6) which I have received today once the valid claim date has passed.

Have I got it right ??

Thanks in advance for any info and good luck to others in getting what is due to them.

Yes thats right..Simply follow the instructions. Ignore month 6 etc. As soon as you hit your claim date send the latest bill you have at that date.

Previously I made a post here to tell that my friend has received a claim form that asks her to claim cashback in 4 stages. Not as suggested in her terms and conditions where she expected to claim all the cashback in 1 stage by sending in the 6 month bill.

My friend has wrote to them just recently. She did actually take the time to write about it to them. And this is the reply she got back from them today. Please confirm if they are trying to play around or if they have a good reasonable point.

This is their reply: and the paragraph in quotes below is the cashback section of the terms and conditions that she saved on the day of purcahse.

Thankyou for your recent enquiry, as you stated in the terms and conditions copied on day of purchase, I have highlighted the plural of cheques, therefore stating that there would be more than one redemption.
Mobiles 2 Your Door have never provided a single redemption with any contracts sold on the website. If you are on a 12 month contract you will have your first claim on month 6 of your contract term. Due to the nature of the issue we cannot discuss any further via email. Please call our contact centre on 08709014711 they will be able to investigate the process and answer any questions you may have. (Open 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday and Saturday 10am to 5pm. Calls are charged at national rate)

“Cheque Back only available on specified handsets. Please check individual handsets and specific tariffs for details. Customers will pay the full price of the handset and receive a cheque for the value of the Cheque Back offer. All Cheque Back offers will be processed after the handset has been delivered and connected via the Phones 4u connection service on 0870 9050416 or online at https://www.phones4u.co.uk. Within 30 days of the handset being connected, a redemption form will be sent to the e-mail address used during the purchase. This redemption form will need to be completed and returned via post along with the users month 6 bill, the form must be recieved no later than 7 months from the users initial connection date. The 6 month bill must show that the user is on the same or higher value tariff. Cheques will be made payable to the person who placed the original order and will be issued within 30 days of receipt of the redemption form and bill. If the handset is returned under the Phones 4u 30 day return policy no cheque will be issued until 30 days after the provision of a replacement handset. No cheque will be dispatched if a refund is issued. Only handsets purchased in the promotion period will be eligible for the Cheque Back offer. “

The t&c also make it quite clear that there are 4 claims and not one (if that's the issue). The only difference there is the fact they say they send the form within 30 days of the order - they don't. If they haven't paid the correct amount due that is another mattter and my position were that to happen is already on here. The correct amount is almost certainly one quarter - all depends on the actual t&c at the time although I've not seen anything different on there (unlike the parent site).
