  • Is it worth ringing the providers for them to match?

You'd do better ordering via a cashback site, unless it's on Talkmobile.
  • Don't use mobiles.co.uk! Most of the contracts they advertise require you to send them bills to get cashback which they do not send. I have had to wait over 6 months for two cashback cheques...they are dodgy!

Never had a problem ordering payg phones from that site.

Then you slipped up. I've made hundreds (true) of claims from them and their sister sites and supervised several times more for people I order for. I've never failed to get my money.

The real answer is, if you don't follow the groundrules then don't use a cashback contract from any dealer. If you DO follow the groundrules, the only risk you take is them going bust.

If you can afford the initial outlay (or are willing to open a 0% Purchase credit card - you must be strict about paying it off before the promotion period ends though!) it's almost always cheaper buying the handset sim-free and getting a sim-only/payg deal. Giff gaff (o2), post office mobile (EE) are usually the cheapest but it depends on your usage.

I don't agree with that at all.

If you are referring to me, then of course I should have added 'in my experience'.

As the OP is looking for help rather than differences of opinion, perhaps you could also add why you don't agree with my recommendation, allowing them to make up their own mind?

    Your comment, yes.

I only order cashback deals so am specifically referring to those. This is a much less known outfit than the main remaining provider (CPW in all its various forms). There is practically no information about them on the website (apart from a registered name and address - though they don't carry stock there). Feedback is very limited but includes some problematic experiences (which could have been overcome but shouldn't arise) and what positive feedback there is either seems to involve just limited experience or non-cashback contracts.

Although I would consider using them for the right deal (I know what I'm doing and have made so much from my numerous other cashabck contracts that I would take the risk) I wouldn't take the people I order for there (I like to do my best to ensure they always get their cashback).

The history of cashback deals is littered with companies like this one. Only one of those is still in business and when things go wrong people almost invariable rant and rave about the company - not their own shortcomings and mistakes.
