Mobilephonesdirect.co.uk Cashback
I'm considering buying the new Moto G from Mobilephonesdirect.co.uk. The sim free cost for the phone is £139.99 but the pay monthly cost is £6.50 per month for 24 months with the phone for free. The £6.50 is the price after cashback (£22.50 before). Link here: mobilephonesdirect.co.uk/contract-mobile-phones/motorola-new-moto-g
£6.50 x 24 = £156 (total for 24 months)
£156 - £139.99 = £16 (total for 24 months minus the cost of the phone)
so that means it will cost me just £16 in total for 24 months excluding the phone and including cashback. Is this a bug or am I missing something?
If I do go through with is, will Mobilephonesdirect.co.uk give me the cashback as promised? Are they a reputable company?

Good questions; but there are many more you should be sure about before deciding. I've had no dealings with them so can't comment either way, but I live for cashback contracts and have run numerous simultaneously for myself and many other people for about 7 or 8 years.
If you follow all the groundrules carefully and provided they don't go bust, you can always get your money provided you play hard-ball if and when necessary. Otherwise all bets are off.
I would do a lot of research - and having had a quick look I can't find volumes of feedback on them, especially regarding cashback. From the number of entries on Trustpilot it seems they may have been around for a while - but I'm not impressed by their seemingly total lack of information about the company. Most dealers have an "About us" section on their websites which can provide very useful clues.
I would consider using them if the deals were good enough (and I ONLY use cashback contracts), but I have done so well from custback contracts that I am also prepared to take a calculated risk - AND I go in with my eyes wide open, follow my own groundrules and take immediate action should they break the terms of my contract with them (the contract with the network is entirely separate and nothing to do with cashback).

I have used mobilephonesdirect before (2 years ago) with one of their cashback deals and have had no problemsThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I would be careful before relying on mobilephonesdirect for cashback.
Every time I go to submit the information requested for a cashback claim, the form
always says "Oooops an unexpected error occurred". I have tried across multiple dates
and across multiple devices - so it is a major issue. Customer services try to fob me off by
saying it's a one-off, but it has been happening since my first submission in December 2014. They
usually take 2 to 3 days to reply so it takes along time and it's easy to forget about claiming. Especially
when they ask you to submit again!
They ask me to try again and eventually ask me to take screenshots and email the information.
To get your cashback, you need a of patience and a lot of time. I believe that the process is
constructed deliberately to put people off from claiming.
Any decent company gives you a specific error message if there is an issue with a form submission.
The fact the mobilephonesdirect has a form that just says "Ooops, an error occurred..." tells me that
they don't want you to know the reason why the submission failed. Otherwise you could correct it.
It looks to me like to "Oooops" error is deliberate and designed to put people off claiming.
I would not buy from this company again. The cashback process along with their permanently "broken" claim form on their website makes it not worth it.0
