Can anyone confirm if the phones mobiles.co.uk provide are brand new or are they refurbished items?

    Kind regards,
    Scott.

Usually new. Where they aren't they call them "refurbished".
  • I would not go through them again.
I have a cashback deal through them with EE.
When it comes to claiming cash back they make it as hard as possible. I have never been able to use their online claim system and so have had to print and post my bill every time. They do pay, but take their time about it.
Their website does not work more often than it does work in my experience.
  • Apart from that, they rarely have the best deals nowadays either.

mobiles.co.uk (Dixons Carphone PLC) are scammers, fraudsters.

STAY AWAY from mobiles.co.uk (Dixons Carphone PLC) cashback deals. They don't send cashback cheques. When you chase it, they send one and stop it (my bank said unpaid cheque). Then you chase again, and they put all the blame on you. It goes like that:
"Ayanda: I am really sorry for this, the cheque was cancelled via a request that you have made since you did
not receive the cheque, now our banking team has sent anew cheque for you which will take 28 working days
to arrive from the date the cheque was sent"
Don't be surprised when the operator just closes chat on you. Same with phone calls to their customer phone line. As for complaints, I haven't heard from them since. In fact there is no such a thing as complaints, no complaints policy, no procedure of any sort, no one to escalate the issue with, no body outside the company to refer the complaint to either (they haven't heard of Communications Ombudsman).
You will not get your cashback! You will spend hours on their chat reading the pre-written formulas and listen to the same stories on their customer phone line. All that every 28 working days

  • Disappointed and left with a worse handset than the one i was replacing. I purchased a new Sony Xperia 5 handset in December 2019 from mobiles.co.uk. Immediately I had problems with the sim card which was not recognised, I was made to wait a week as "it sometimes takes a while to register" eventually they admitted that the sim was faulty, but I had to take time out of work and travel to a O2 store to swap it. During this time the finger print scanner stopped working, after four days, I was told to clean it, I clean it literally every time and it still doesn't work, I re-register my fingerprints, it still doesn't work to this day. So I started to use the facial recognition, this worked fine, for three weeks, then I was told to perform a software upgrade, as this may fix the finger print scanner issue. Now not only did it not fix the issue, but to add insult to injury, it disabled the facial recognition as it had been deemed unsecure, so they removed it, this cannot be undone, you cannot remove the update. The phone is now locking up, it crashes and is a real pain, totally unreliable, much like mobiles.co.uk customer services. So in short, I have a premium xperia handset on the O2 network, that has less features and poor reliability than the 3 year old xperia handset it replaced. Mobiles.co.uk do not return calls or messages, they don't even know how to speak to you, they transferred me to O2 during a cal, without even telling me, i didn't know who I was speaking to, and they didn't know why I was calling, absolutely horrendous, they expect YOU to do all the leg work to resolve an issue which is their problem. Go elsewhere, go direct to the network provider, you'll get far better help. My issue has been ignored and unresolved.
  • This company are selling refurbished phones as brand new which is essentially fraud!

Their returns page states that the seal may be broken due to "spot checks in the warehouse". This is a lie they are not supposed to break a Samsung seal.

They even put a similar seal over the Samsung one to make it look like it had never been opened.

It was confirmed as a lie when I gave Samsung the IMEI number and they told me the phone was activated THREE MONTHS prior meaning the warranty was activated from that date and to return it IMMEDIATELY for a full refund.

To be fair the refund was processed with no questions asked, they know what they are doing.
