In fact - I am now starting to speculate that this spam isn't just piggybacking for Google ratings. I'm now wondering if this is a deliberate form of attack (rather than an accidental byproduct iyswim) and someone somewhere is deliberately attacking MSE this way - hoping to get "bought off" from the attack.
Could an MSE poster have joined as an "ordinary poster" a while back and decided to play a waiting game in that role and put up some ordinary posts and then head for MSE with an attack like this?0 -
^^^ Could be, but it seems to me all MSE needs to do is employ a night shift spam spotter and to delete immediately. They may be very busy, but the shift would pass quickly..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Why is this only MSE? I wont mention another very popular blog website, but it dosent have any!0

This is getting ridiculous. Surely the simplest way is to allow new users 1 post only, and they can't make further posts until the first one has been reviewed. Yes it'll be an overhead for the admins, but surely much less of an overhead than dealing with the hundreds of spam posts ? And any spammer gets their email address permanently blocked.0

I googled the website that's being promoted by these spammers and all I got were page after page of forums which had been spammed.
We weren't even in the top two pages.
It's not just us, it seems to be the entire internet being blitzed by these barstewards. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
They are after Google/search engine rankings boost for their sites or scams, so they will "spread it around" as much as possible.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
