Abbey Debit Card, Where Is It?

Hi All,
as you can probably tell I am new here. I have specifically come on for the "Abbey disaster". I have been reading through all the posts on this thread and cannot believe it, I thought it was just me.
I am like most of you extremely P***ed off!
Like some of you say Abbey should not be allowed to get away with this. In todays's world of media interference and the internet etc etc large companies can be made to pay for messing their customers about and Abbey should be no different. I also agree that Abbey has been very arrogant in their handling of the whole affair and has been trying to "pap off" customers with various lies and bu****it.
SO should they get away with it, no way. Firstly I assume that everyone WILL be switching accounts to another bank at the earliest opportunity, however there has to be more, as bizzimum says "the media should wipe the floor with these guys", and indeed they should. What are we going to do about it? I am willing to help if anyone can come up with a very good idea on how to get back at this appaling banking entity, has to be legal of course.
So how do we go about and raise the awareness as it seems anybody who is not affected has not heard anything about this whole affair. And it is for this reason I think that Abbey have acted in the way that they have.
Regarding switching to another bank, I know it may be a bit of a hassle but it will give immense satisfaction once its done and if we all do it it will feel even better. Remember another thing to bear in mind is that organisations such as Abbey's rely on customer apathy when it comes to such issues, lets prove them wrong and stick it up them this time.
So if anyone has any good ideas that need help please let me know.0 -

Well, it seems that if you don't threat the call centre staff as if they were royalty, you won't get what you want, and they can make your life a misery by "forgetting" what you ask them to do in the first place.
Strange, I didn't recall swearing at them or talk to them badly, I might have hinted to one of them that he was bulshitting me (in a very polite way), which has incurred being cut off straight away, now I wonder if really I will get my card this week now!
Which part of customer service don't they understand? Is it that part where they have to give US a service in a polite and efficient way? (and not us just calling them to keep them busy and justify their wages?).
They should all go on a psychology course and learn on how to deal with an angry customer, doing what they do only get customers more angry and make people move away.
Example : I used to buy a lot with Comet online, the service was pretty good, I could call them and things would be sorted.

Then Kesa took over. The call centre manager got promoted. It took them one month (after numerous calls) to deliver my camera for which I wanted a saturday delivery, they never came the first saturday, then they were trying to redeliver it anytime but saturday. I insisted on saturday delivery (they never came), I was laughed at in the phone and threated in a very patronising way, they rather sounded like they were having a big party, they messed me up big time, eventually I got the camera delivered to a neighbour on a monday, and got my saturday delivery fees back.
That was the last time I have ordered from Comet. Their profit in the UK apparently plummeted in 2005 and 2006. They seems to blame it on anything but the customer service going down.
I wouldn't even buy from a Comet shop. I used to buy all my electricals from them. They lost a customer.
Is it so hard to understand?0 -
Well i'm in the same boat, last excuse was an address flag at card services so it was never sent out, should be this week, 4 weeks with no card is a bloody joke! Had enough really they offered me £50 which i declined so i could persue for more money. There's just nowt anyone can do it's SOOO FRUSTRATING!0

How do they send the cards? Will I have to sign for it or is it just a normal envelope? I have asked that question when I've contacted the call centre, but she didn't seems to know. She just said it will be sent first class.0

Well I had a phone call last Tuesday evening from someone responding to my complaints (one about the e-banking outage in May, one about the late debit card, and one about why can't they follow their own complaints procedure). There was an apology, a promise that my suggestions would be taken on board, and she said that she would be writing and there would be some form of ex gratia payment. Have seen neither letter nor credit to my account yet, but I'll give them a few more days.0

Never accept a first offer .Banks and BS's have a Fund for such "payments"0 -
interesting how they blame everything but themselves.......... my abbey debit card expired at the end of june - normally it would arrive 2/3 weeks before -this year it arrived the day before - its my only source of cash and i was really worried. im fed up with call centres where neither of us can understand each other. last time i went abroad i phoned up to tell them and they were confused as to why i wanted to tell them about my hols lol'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0
