Still no trace of my new debit card. They told me I would have it a week before the expiry date, and to call them back if I didn't have the card by one week before the end of the month.
Not seing anything today, I called them and I was told that all the cards for this month were sent, and that the last ones were sent yesterday, by first class post.
If I don't get it by friday, I won't be able to log on to my account, and update my card on some websites.
Before Santander, I would have got it by now.
The way she talked to me, I wouldn't be surprised if it was written "pain in the asre" next to my account, as it is the second time I am calling to enquire about my card.
My hairdresser knows a friend of a friend who has been in India for the last 2 years, 4 months at a time, to train the staff there for Abbey.
Maybe he should tell them that being arrogant and rude, lie when you don't know the answer or when you are not bothered to find out the answer, and terminate the call when the customer try to argue the point or spot the lies and you don't like it and shouting at customers is not good professional customer service and not part of the job description.
Some people are frighten to call them again, knowing how they will be threated and talked to.
Santander had decided in 2005 to move back the call centre from India to the UK. It seems they have changed their minds allright.

Well I got 2 cards in the post today. Not had time to see if they even work yet, but Abbey are just getting better. Not Visa cards, oh no, Electron cards! Where did they come from I wonder.
That's not the best of it. One card for me and another for a friend who used my account about 15 years ago. Even though his name has been off the account for about 6 years, he now has a card too. Please do not feed the Trolls!0 -
Well both the cards I was sent work so that's something.
I've noticed over the past week as people got their cards this thread went quiet. I want to let you know that I will still take this matter further and if I hear from the Mirror or The Sun, I will let you know. Please do not feed the Trolls!0 -
Strange you got Electron cards, I had an Electron card on the same account as my debit card, and they took it away 2 years ago. I thought they were doing away with them.
If you want to take the matter further, neanallen, good on you, I hope some results will come out of this.0 -

I found an Electron card in my flat recently which still had some time left on it but when I phoned they said that it had been superceded by my Visa Debit Card and was no longer valid .
I also understood that Abbey had stopped issuing them .0 -
Hi everyone,
M card was working momentarily and then I went to Egypt, and when I needed money, both cards declined. Stuck in Egypt with no money. Managed to text my mum and told her all my details and when she called they said they could not give her any details but here was an international number I could call - with no money Abbey, how am I supposed to do that??
Going to go into the branch today, think I will have much luck??
I've been on holiday for 2 weeks and can't believe this thread is still going!
Mind you after all the trouble I had getting my new debit card - the Abbey in their wisdom managed to block it whilst I was abroad - leaving me to spend my last 25 Euros on phone cards trying to get it sorted out. Yes, I went through the usual Abbey CS procedure of hanging on for ages whilst they managed to answer the phone, being cut off by them, first phone card running out, being put through to wrong department etc etc. They told me they couldn't possibly ring me back, although I told them I was abroad with no money. Unusual activity i.e. drawing cash abroad triggered the block. This is probably what happened to Stacey21. I wouldn't have considered using my card to get cash abroad whilst on holiday to be particularly odd - well not in the height of summer anyway. Apparently they like you tell them if you're going abroad - maybe next year I'll send them a postcard :rotfl:(it did take nearly 2 weeks for the card to be stopped). There is nothing in their terms and conditions about this and I did mention repeatedly when trying to get the debit card at the beginning of the month, that I was going on holiday. No-one ever suggested that if I intended to use my card there might be a problem.
I really do think the media should wipe the floor with Abbey. Their whole attitude stinks:mad:.
September might be an interesting month.:rolleyes:I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.
