I tried to place an order with Tesco Direct last night and got an email back saying my card could not be processed then today in Woolworths my card was declined after trying to make a purchase so I went next door to Abbey and asked what the problem was and was told there were problems with the whole Abbey system last night but it has been sorted now. I was then told to put my card in the machine to unlock the pin (which I know I hadn't locked) and everything should be fine. Came home, tried to order from Woolworths online and have yet again received the same 'card not being processed' email. What is going on? Anyone know?

Unless that mess is not made more public nothing will be done as the people in higher positions won't know that there are huge problems and people are leaving.
I did hear Nick Ferrari on LBC a couple of weeks ago mentioning the huge queues outside Abbey banks, he was having a laugh about it, he probably don't know what's going on, then again I don't know what he talked about last week as I wasn't at work.
Maybe it would be worth it sending him an email and telling him about the problem. He might take it further.
As for the branch staff, they could take it further within the bank if they had enough. The shareholders wouldn't be happy if they knew that people are closing their accounts.
And that indian call center needs to be dealt with, cutting off or shout at customers is right out of order, and they should know what they are talking about, or they are just a waste of money and time. The only time I had such an appalling experience with a call center was with British Gas, and even then I never was shouted at. Just being taken for a ride or cut off.

Well, was walking past my local Abbey today and they had a big board outside saying that due to a computer fault this branch can only take deposits. All other counter services were suspended

Got my Smile card today. They said it would take 2 weeks. Took 3 days...

Now I just need to switch my direct debits.
  • Im switching all my abbey accounts 5 in all after this latest fiasco.I was willing to accept that these things happen in life. But what im not willing to accept is the poor customer service, putting the phone down on me, giving excuses and telling lies and being downright rude. They should treat their customers with a little respect after all its us that give them their multi million pound profits. I received my card 2 weeks ago but im still very angry at how abbey have handled this.
  • I have been with the abbey for around 10years and ive neer had any problems with them until now!

Like so many of you my card went out of date in june, and i went into the bank about 4 times to complain, and everytime i got fobbed off saying its because of the new systems etc.

I recieved my card like 2 weeks ago, until then i had to go without being able to access any money unless i went into the bank which was very inconvinient!!

My dad is also with abbey and he was also supposed to get his card in june, and he still hasnt got it!! Also my mum had loads of problems with them recently, so she left them, and then the other week they sent a card to my dads house for an account for her!!?? What has happened to this bank!?

And the other night i was shopping in sainsburys and my card got declined, i couldnt believe it. Then i spent the next couple of hours trying to get though to customer services, (who managed to hang up on me a few times!!) and when i finally got to speak to someone i couldnt even understand wat they were saying. They were rude and basicly said i couldnt use my card for a hour!!

I was wondering if anyone else has complained and had a reply? I am going to change to another bank (i have just started a new job, so i cant jst cange my details at the min) Does anyone have any suggestion of one with good service??
    Thanks

No new posts in 24 hrs .Does that mean things are dying down .I have not yet been to unlock my new Pin Number so I'll try that later on and I'm still waiting on one of my online banking numbers to try that out .
Once that is sorted then I can post my Complaint Letter to Abbey .
EDIT .Post was later today so got my remaining online banking number and that works .Changed them back to what I was using before .Only nee to test my PIN Number now

No card here yet!!! - am looking into changing banks as we have other current accs already - Lloyds and Nationwide but hubby doesn't want to change??
  • Still not got my card which was promisted last Monday to arrive today. THREE weeks without a card, and cannot log on to e-banking as they stopped me doing that. Complained and they set up new registrations numbers and passwords. Yesterday received password and letter saying registration number will follow. Today and SECOND set of passwords, so when the registration number arrived which I bet will be TWO I still won't be able to log on. ABBEY CAN'T GET ANYTHING RIGHT. My friend has had a different problem with them, they lost a bankers draft, which was send recorded delivery.
