I called Abbey this morning only to be told that many many cards have been 'shut down' due to a problem with their systems. I have written a long complaint letter to put in an email through their contact us section but it will not let me send. Does anyone have an email address to contact them?
Was hung up on by an advisor!!

With regards to people who say they can't log in to Abbey's Internet banking. I'm just wondering what the message you was when you put in your details.

The reason I ask is because for the last 3 days I get this.

This service is currently unavailable, we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Please try again later.

If I read that message right it means something 'AGAIN' wrong their end. Going to make another call tomorrow to find what this message is all about.

Once I enter all my numbers and password it doesn't tell me that they were incorrect. so, anyone else getting that message or something else?

That's the message I was getting which made me think there was a system problem but it was because my card number had changed and I hadn't thought of that being the problem but it was .Very Misleading isn't it

I HAVE THIS E-MAIL ADDRESS FROM A LETTER ACKNOWLEDGING MY COMPLAINT. customerservices@abbey.com, I have sent them numerous e-mails and only got a reply from the first one, so you could be wasting your time, only thing is its more evidence for your complaint.

STILL NOT GOT MY CARD, STILL CANNOT GET ON-LINE.,
• STILL CANNOT GET ON-LINE.,
I had no problem yesterday, logging in at Abbey, nor did I have any difficulties 2 minutes ago.

UPDATE
Yesterday I got my card and one of the numbers needed for on-line banking
Today I got my PIN and the other on-line banking number .
I havent been out to unlock the PIN and change it but I tried the on-line banking numbers and they don't work .Keeps telling me I am using the wrong numbers .Now that's entirely possible as I don't know if these are the most recent numbers generated or earlier ones .

I'll need to wait and see if others come in the mail .

Just goes on and on and on doesn't it .

Something else to add to my complaint letter which is partly written but won't be completed until I can say that

things are back to normal

FURTHER UPDATE
Went out to an Abbey machine and as instructed put in my card then my PIN Number and chose PIN SERVICES and then chose UNLOCK PIN . Would you believe it got told the PIN Number I had put in was wrong and it was not wrong .I had the letter with the PIN Number on it in my hand .Frightened the card would get swallowed up I cancelled the transaction . What I don't understand is how it accepted the PIN when I put the card in at first ( or does it recognise that it's a new card ) I wouldnt be surprised if the stuff I have got through ..The PIN ,and the Online Banking numbers are for the previously cancelled card hence why they don't work ..

Got a letter from Smile today confirming my account with them. Card should reach me in the next 14 days, which is still probably quicker than either waiting for the Abbey one or cancelling the Abbey reissue and getting a new one (last option suggested by the branch).

Surely, this is one of the biggest screw-ups in the UK banking industry of recent years?

What a shame Radio 4's Money Box isn't on at the moment.

It has been a blessing in disguise, though. I've been saving like mad. Went shopping this evening with a £20 note for food and petrol and could not go over that limit.

I've also managed to overpay on my mortgage by taking £800 out of my
 Abbey  savings account.

When I was in the branch drawing money out yesterday, the way we used to before holes in the wall, some guy was going mad
"I JUST WANT TO CLOSE MY ACCOUNT...... I DON'T CARE...... JUST CLOSE MY ACCOUNT.... NOW!!!!!!".
I feel sorry for the branch staff who have to deal with all this crap. Just thought I'd mention it because it's not their fault.

Is there no Banking Body that complaints can be made to .I know there is a banking Ombudsman but I think that's just if a complaint to your Bank cannot be resolved .Radio 5 Live .....see previous messages here....has been having a look but it's on at some unearthly hour of the morning .Half 5 or somesuch .
