Isn't that false advertising?
I have been with them for years. I can only compare the before and after.
Has anyone had that kind of problems with not receiving the new debit card on time with another bank?
Still no card
If they had send them friday first class, I would have got it by now.
Maybe mañana....................0 -

By the way, why don't we all write a review about Abbey on that website?
I know that when I am googling a search about a review on some products or service, that website come up regularly.
I have written a review about Comet a couple of years ago.
It's worth a try, but I doubt it'll do any good, Santander seems to be way too big now to be bothered about a few unhappy customers.
If it was reaching the newspapers, maybe but they don't seem to have picked up on this.0 -
It just gets better... (worse).
I cancelled my card on the branch's advice and ordered a new one, which two weeks later still hadn't arrived. Phoned their telephone banking people and was told the new hadn't been ordered! So we'll see how long that the third one takes. I only need this until I get paid again, which will go into the new account.
It's been a shambles.0 -
Mmmm. Slightly OT but I wonder if they will ever decide to rebrand Abbey as Santander UK?. Or continue to keep the local name with the international style branding?.
With all these hiccups lately, it can't be doing Abbey's brand image much good and this, from what i've seen in the past with other companies is what usually happens. They migrate systems, cause loads of problems for customers then re-brand.
I remember when T-Mobile first bought One 2 One, the network got terrible, full of congestion and being met with a recorded message saying "The network is busy" about 80% of the time you wanted to make a call. I presume this was during some sort of migration process and network changes to suit T-Mobile, as soon as it was re-branded as T-Mobile UK these problems vanished overnight.0 -

They are rubbish at ordering cards, I tried to get a card upgrade by writing to them for over a year and never got any joy so decided to phone up last September before going abroad in October. Phoned telephone banking on 20th Sept and got through to UK call centre, was told that it had been ordered and would arrive in 10 days. Still nothing when I went away on 2nd October and just thought oh well it'll arrive when I get home. Arrive back from 2 weeks away and still no card.
Called them again and this time got through to India, the guy said that it had been ordered but couldnt understand why I hadn't got it. He put the card order through again and this time acknowledgement letter, card, and pin all arrived within 5 days.
Quite ironic that they can order cards properly all the way out in India but not here in the UK.
All this said, This farce with the card and the ocassional E-banking log-on blip have been the only problems i've had with Abbey. All other service from them has been great, friendly counter staff, statements on time and accurate. They are a good bank but they do have a few internal problems they need to work on.
Barclays worried me, I walked into one of their branches with a friend and an assistant asked another customer if they could help them, the customer said "can I have a barclaycard, I've no money and I'm struggling to pay for things." Assistants reply "One moment, I'll go get you an application form"
Sound financial advice. :rolleyes:0 -
Complaints are starting to deal with these claims. I have accepted £70 today.
To repeat advice given earlier - don't accept the first offer. Now for my next complaint:rolleyes:.I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

I still don't have the new card. This is ridiculous. I will see tomorrow then I will have to call them again, but starting tomorrow I can't use my debit card nowhere and probably won't be able to log on to my account.
Am I the only one not to have received a new debit card on time this month?0
