I still don't have the new card. This is ridiculous. I will see tomorrow then I will have to call them again, but starting tomorrow I can't use my debit card nowhere and probably won't be able to log on to my account.
Am I the only one not to have received a new debit card on time this month?
If by "this month" you mean August I thought the problems started with the cards expiring at end of July so all on here were affected .
Did your card expire yesterday ..end of Aug ..If so you are the first I have heard of so thats a new problem .HMMM !!! Maybe time to call up Karen on Radio Five Live Money programme0 -

I believe you are the 1st, I'm sure too this thread will start to pick up again come this week.
I had a text today from Abbey asking if I would call and let them know if my Credit card, ending in 4*** had arrived. They turned me down for one a few months ago
I have no idea what they are playing at.Please do not feed the Trolls!0 -
Yes, it's 00.52 hrs and my card has expired 52 minutes ago. I was told they sent the cards friday 24th, as I said I should have got it by now. If they sent it at all.
I still can log on to my account, I have just done it 5 minutes ago. If the new card is the same number as the old, I might still be able to log on? Unless they cancel this one for non receipt, then I definitively won't be able to log on.0 -

Yeah .You'll be able to logon so long as your pin number remains the same as when the Pin number changes for any reason then that kills the online banking Passcode and Registration numbers ,and of course if the card number changes then that does the same so then you are stuffed until you get new numbers .0 -
I wonder if I will still have that lovely kitten on my card.
I don't know if they still doing it, but in the past they were offering a "personalise your card" service where you could personalise your debit card with a photograph of your choice.
It's because I have decided to do this that my card expires at the end of august, before that my cards were expiring at the end of july.0 -
As the OP I cannot beleive that people are still having problems getting their abbey debit card and that this thread would still be running. Is there anyway we can print it off and send it to Abbey to show them how strongly people feel and how badly their customer service has been.I know we would all be anonymous but I feel at the moment we are all ringing up and filing complaints and they are seeing us as a fragmented group. If there are so many of us on this site having problems, how many people who are not mse members are out there having the same problem.Perhaps we could send it to the BBC?? any thoughts??0

I agree. I sent an email to the Mirror and the Sun last Satuday and have had no reply reply from either
I wil do a search and find a email address for the BBC and forward the email to them.
Lets see if they wil hellp usPlease do not feed the Trolls!0 -
Just so you know I forwarded the email to the, BBC, ITN news and Sky News. If I don't hear anything then we know noone wants to help us outPlease do not feed the Trolls!0

Well, it seems that they still got problems with sending cards.
No card through the post today again, so I called them this morning, apparently the reason why I didn't get my card is that my address was written as unconfirmed.
Can someone explained to me how my address can be unconfirmed when the lady could read my address from what she was seeing on her computer, and when 2 abbey credit cards was sent to me in august without problems?
Is it a question of the left hand who what the right hand does?
I was impressed by the service I've got from her, compare with the service I had in the past from her colleagues, she has put me on hold to enquire as why I didn't get my card, then gone back to me (no cut offs, and polite with no arrogance in sight, and didn't seem to read from a script or make up stupid lies to get you off her back) and then confirm my address with me, then put me on hold again and give them my confirmed address.
Well, I hope she didn't put me on hold to have a sip of her tea.
I should get my card in 7 to 10 working days (I suppose they don't count saturday as a working day?)
She has confirmed that there are still problems with the cards, if really they have lost 19000 addresses as stated in one of the previous post, it shouldn't have been all for the cards expiring in july, so my guess is that it's gonna happen until they got all the 19000 addresses back.
So brace yourself..........0 -
I have a different 'problem' now with this debit card - i received my new one though the post today ( expired July 31st) but only got it as we live in a small town and the postman knows us - WHY you may ask because...............
it was sent to an address that we haven't lived in since June 2005 and the property was sold in March 2006 - the new owners had written on it - 'no longer lives here' and put it back in the mail system.
We moved to another property on the same estate so same postcode different house number so the postman just puts though any stray old address mail ( junk mail) though with the normal mail but he has been on holiday for the last 2 weeks so the card had been put though the old address ( 5 mins walk away !!!)
So I've just spoken to a nice scottish lady ( used the call back system) who says the account has an away flag on it which means there has been post returned ???? !!!!! - how I asked as we have been getting statements, mortgage stuff, flyers etc since we moved no problem - she had no answer except I need to go into a branch with address ID to tell them we have moved - yeh like 2 years ago and they were told then !!!!!
So if anyone else who is still waiting for their card has moved in the last 2 yrs it may have been sent to the old address - as I told the lady I was lucky it is the same number etc co no new PIN number was sent seperately - but if it had someone would have my card and number - MAJOR FRAUD about to happen - they is definately going to get a very angry letter from us with explanations needed.
I hope everyone else is soon sorted - off now to check I can still get money out !!! - we were lucky as hubby's card was still valid and we have been able to do online banking but for those you aren't please check your accounts asap0
