  • I go to the pub most Sunday or Monday evenings for few pints. It's nice to get out with friends and the whole social aspect of the pub as well.

I never drink at home and never buy those slabs of pish water deals from the supermarkets. I easily go a week or even 2 weeks or more without an alcoholic drink.

Dry January and other giving up booze clubs (Go Sober October) are for people who get wrecked on Carling most nights of the week.

That's not the only people dry jan is for, but thanks for the comment.

I've done day 2 and I'm up at a reasonable time on a sat. After my coffee, heading to my mums to see if she fancies a trip into london for a bit.

  • The irony of my avatar occured to me this morning after I woke up after a good nights sleep.

Have to say that not having a glass of wine last night was weird and my OH tried to tempt me. He could do with this challenge more than me to be honest but he wont do it.

I did the reverse psychology on him saying there was no way he could not have a drink. He didnt.....but I dont think he will stick it.

Started back at the gym as well yesterday just doing half an hour between the treadmill and bike. Found it really hard as not done anything for months but a step in right direction.

Oh and LeeUK........would rather go teetotal than touch Carling!

  • I find doing the weekly shop the worst as after struggling with the wheelchair (my OH's not mine) and my caring duties I often feel I have 'earned' a drink or three. but I am going to find other ways to unwind, maybe buy myself a kindle read.
  • I know lots of people who have done dry January who don't get wrecked every night of the week. Plenty of social drinkers stop to raise funds for charity.

It's also possible to have a social life and not drink alcohol, plenty of non alcoholic choices around.

    Morning :)

Day 2 was completed. I popped to the supermarket to get our usual Friday night treats, and found myself browsing the alcohol isle before remembering that I am doing this challenge! LOL, I had totally forgotten.

Again, didn't bother me. I did look into some sparkling drinks, such as ame and schloer, but decided against it.
So I am going to put £7 into my savings account on Monday, as that's what I would have spent on a bottle of wine last night.

Popped to the pub last night and had pineapple juice :D Even managed to resist the samples of ales that were offered. I did have some ice cream when I got in, but no sore head this morning, and I'm looking forward to going out again this evening.
    Good luck everyone!

I'm always up early on a Saturday as I don't go out to get !!!!ed on a Friday night due to work.

Also I hardly drank anything over Christmas, glass of white wine with Christmas day dinner and a Snowball on new years day. Dry January is also targeted at those who were wrecked most nights of the Xmas and New Year week.

For anyone who is interested in the units that were being consumed, you can go here and have a look. I found it quite scary to be honest.

  • It's targeted at anyone who wants to stop and raise money for cancer research or the charity of their choice.

I know occasional drinkers who have done dry January and stoptober.

A friend of mine does dry January every year, he doesn't spend his life getting wrecked.

Sometimes people want a break from booze and January is as good a month as any to do it.
