I'm always up early on a Saturday as I don't go out to get !!!!ed on a Friday night due to work.

Also I hardly drank anything over Christmas, glass of white wine with Christmas day dinner and a Snowball on new years day. Dry January is also targeted at those who were wrecked most nights of the Xmas and New Year week.

And it's aimed at those who want to simply cut down on their drinking.

I don't wrecked any night, just got into the habit of wine after work and more at the weekend.

  • Day 3 complete!

Day 1 was easy as I had a slight hangover from the night before
Day 2 I work in retail and it's particularly stressful this time of year and I would usually be reaching for the bottle when the boys were in bed but had a cuppa instead.
Day 3 dinner at my parents. I knew this would be hard as the wine is always flowing freely but I said no. The reply from my sister, a rather abrupt, I was going to do that but screwed up and mum, I have all this Christmas drink to use. I have a bottle of ros! in the fridge which is to remain there until February. I actually feel quite pleased with myself.

  • Yep Day 3 for me as well, and I have found it suprisingly easy so far. Normally we would have downed a bottle of wine between us with dinner/a movie by this time on a Saturday.

I'm sure when I go back to work on Monday though, I'll be clamouring for a drink in the evenings, and even more so on Thursday/Friday when I am home with my kids (aged nearly 4 and 17 months)

  • Tesco and Asda do some own brand alcohol free cordials, Ive enjoyed all the ones Ive tried but Im sure someone said earlier in the thread they tend to be sugar heavy and that's definitely the case.

I quite like ginger ale so I might try this

Ive also removed myself from a couple of nights out coming up where people are by their own admission going out to drink a few buckets of alcohol. Can't really be bothered going out to watch people get plastered, not because Im not drinking myself, just can't be bothered, I think this year I'll do a lot less socialising in pubs and more walking/gym/cinema.

I fancied a drink today but didn't, despite hubby cracking open a beer. I've got to get in an alternative to tea though because all the caffeine is making me feel jittery.

I managed last night in the pub with lots of people drinking heavily :) I had a diet coke and 2 J2Os, was impressed that Wetherspoons had the J2Os on their "3 drinks for £5" offer, so I didn't have to spend more on soft drinks than on booze!
Well done to everyone, keep up the good work! x
  • Alcohol is the last thing on earth I want today. vomitting bug has seen to that.
  • Managed to get through the weekend which are my hot-spots. The next weekend will be testing after a week back in work.

Strangely I still have the headaches as though I've got a hangover, so now I am thinking that is related to something else which I need to investigate.
