Im in for the first time ever.
Just want to do it to prove to myself I can.
Most evenings I will have a large glass of wine with more being added at the weekend and even more if we go out socially.
It is a habit I know and I really enjoy a good glass of white wine.
After the excesses of last night and christmas in general, it will be a few days before I get the craving again, but I know it will happen and I will struggle.
I intend stocking up on soda water and lime juice as it is low cal and I like it.
Will also be trying some herbal teas on an evening. Not quite the same as a glass of pinot grigio but I do not intend giving up!Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £600 -
Well I managed last night sober, so it's starting well! Went for a meal and just had a coke, was the only one not drinking but wasn't an issue. Went home and to bed early. Am feeling a bit smug reading all the FB status updates about hangovers today0

Well done for making the effort, but please, don't just go back to your old habits once this month is over. Stopping for a month will certainly do your health a lot of good, but it will be undone quickly if you go right back to drinking every day for the other 11.
This is one of the issues that worries me about 'Dryathlon', that it encourages people to think that if they can do a month a year without alcohol then they're ok and they don't need to look more closely at what they're doing the rest of the time.0 -
I dont intend going back to old habits.
Hoping to cut the drinking to just a couple of nights a week .
I am in my late forties and having read a lot on the perimenopause and its symptoms, cutting down the drink can only be beneficial.Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £600 -
I've spent the last couple of hours going through my food diary for the last year and added up all the amount of alcohol I drank in 2014. It makes for scary reading and not sure if I am brave enough to post it on here!Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Does anyone know of any tasty drinks that use tomato/vegetable juice? I can't stand the thought of drinking something sickly sweet like cordial.[/QUOTE]
Chilled V8 vegetable juice is nice and not sweet. It comes in Tetrapacks the size of Tropicana orange juice. Does anybody know if any the supermarkets produce an Own Brand version of it?0 -
I've signed up. I know I drink too much so I intend to change my habits beyond January. I was put under a fair amount of pressure to go sober for October but I knew I would struggle too much so refused. As well as a health thing, I need to save money, I really can't afford to drink the amount that I do, the money could be used a lot better. So I'll join here because I don't want to plaster it all over Facebook, I'd rather announce my success at the end.Overdraft: [STRIKE]£529[/STRIKE] £199 BC: [STRIKE]£697.82[/STRIKE] £1974.02 MBNA: [STRIKE]£1874[/STRIKE] £517.00
