Oh yes he does have access to a laptop but never seems bothered to look, he often watches the TV and cannot really remember what the story line is and was bought a lot of books as gifts after the accident and he picks them up and reads a page or two and then puts it down, he really is not following anything through to the end.

Yes there is progress, he eats normal foods now not the powder supplements stuff but never eats like you and I, breakfast, lunch and dinner and maybe some snacks/fruit in between, he eats one thing and seems to not want to eat again if left to his own devices probably until the next day , I suppose he needs prompting as his stomach has not been right and he says he does not want to eat much as he seems to loose it to the other end:o he has definetly not gained anywhere near the amount of weight he lost, his neck is still very crinckly, I reckon they will weigh him on friday.

Don't forget, he is still almost "bed bound" and therefore he will not be expending as many calories as he would be normally - therefore he won't have an appetite. But from what you've said, his brain is working overtime- because he isn't using that as he would normally. Could he possibly look over some paperwork from his job? I'm not suggesting that he dives straight into working on a project or budgets - but just looking over some paperwork might divert his energies somewhat.

There is so much progress being made - I would take heart in the fact that he did manage to shave himself - even if he was wiped out for the rest of the day. Next time he does it himself, he will probably find he is wiped out for half the day - it is progress.

You are all doing so well - you should be proud of your family - and yourself - you're the one who has held everything together xxxx

Got it in one Victory! I know that's the way it was between Mr Thorsoak & me :-D Right up to the end.
  • So happy to read your updates Victory. Even though you and OH may not feel like it, you've both come an incredibly long way since the accident.

Yes, there's still a long way to go but the courage, determination and inner strength you've displayed so far stands you in good stead.

Gentle hugs to you and your family

just a thought if OH is having trouble concentrating, have you thought of a woodsearch book, less taxing than sudkoo or crossword and he do a bit and put it down as and when.

Food - with dad we were told little and often, mid morning, oxo cube in hot water, bovril, cup a soup, maybe add a piece of bread with it.

Glass of milk - we add crusha to dads - takes off the blandness.

It might be worth asking for an appointment with a dietician to see what they can suggest.

    You doing brillaintly, xx

Hi:) there is not an awful lot to say that is why have not been on for ages, the docs says it is time, OH says he has very little energy and needs to build up his fitness as he just sits/sleeps but docs say that will come.

Considering he had 17 injuries ranging from nothing like cuts and grazes, a small amount of gravel stuck in his leg, to severely bruised liver, broken, fragmented bones to internal bleeding, a spleen tear to disloged intenstines to air pockets, difficulty breathing, lung problems, chest problems, to stop breathing he is not doing so bad now:)

OH has managed to put nearly 4kg back on again out of the 19kg he lost, doc was a bit uhm about it but it is what it is, OH even says so himself he still looks 'old, haggard, pale, grey, fragile, ill' they are the words he uses himself but yes he is right:o

There is no chance yet of returning to work, he has been in touch and they are whispers that there may be redundencies, so that is worrying OH.

    The road to recovery continues:)
