He has retreated emotionally, he still pats his dad on the head, bless, when now more of his dad is available for a hug but he reverts to the patting of the head, he is preserving his emotions, to be expected, I have told him in a joking manner that he can now hug etc but he is very detached, hopefully once we can get out and about, they can go back to their outdoor pursuits they used to do together and DS can see that it was truly awful but now we need to grasp the positives and stop keeping thinking of how bad it was.
I don't suppose we could ever forget it but we have to 'park it' as they say in this day and age :rotfl:0 -

No, OH does not have the strength for that and no holidays as to be expected as he has not been at work;)
Every day is enough for OH, it really takes it out of him and he does suffer from lack of strength, weekends OH tends to lie in as much as he can as his sleep is really suffering at the moment and take it real easy, I no longer plan anything and we aim to stay in and try to build him back up on the 2 days of the weekend to get him through the next week, there are a few bank holidays coming up and the in laws are coming down for one of them, we will just hang about the garden type of thing taking it easy.0 -
What we did with Dd although it's her grandad he's been a dad to her from day 1, I arranged an outing for just the two of them, they went on a mere cat experience, thou he didn't want to go, he loved it, as it was dd and dad that did the adventures, she'd been up in hot air bAllon with up, football matches, he said it wAs the first time cancer didn't come first.
I know ur son older than dd it might be worth looking For something for both of them, guessing that ds worried about hurting dad
