I am now at the end of my tether with natwest.
I don't think that anyone there actually knows what is going on!
I tried calling the ceo, spoke to not a very nice man, he told me that I would just have to wait for the 2nd offer letter and that there was no way round that. I tried everything........need to cancel a holiday, website mis-leading etc, etc.
In the end I hung up on him before he could do the same to me!!
I then decided to call the 0800 0154212 number. I spoke to another guy (who was a bit nicer!). I just said to him that I being told so many different things, so what is actually going on. He took my acc details and said that as it was all rec'd I WOULD NOT need to wait for the 2nd letter. He then added that he couldn't tell me WHEN the money would be credited to the acc. He said that I need to wait until the 9th Aug before chasing up the payment (that is the 10 working days deadline).
I am keping my fingers crossed for tomorrow, but won't be holding my breath!0 -
THIS IS TAKING OVER MY LIFE!!!
I called 0800 0154212 again this morning, didn't mention yesterdays phone call, guess what she told me........................i need to wait for second letter! After she told me that, I told her what I was told yesterday, apparently, that is incorrect.
I thought I'd call 08456 101 202 and speak to a properly trained member of staff! He told me that any offers that were accepted BEFORE the 27th would still be paid within 10 working days. I need to check my acc after 8am tomorrow, and if there is no credit, then call back on this number and they would transfer me to CUSTOMER RELATIONS who would chase it up.
CONFUSED??? I DEFINATELY AM!!0 -
All
I am aware that there are a few people on here that have been messed around by Natwest the same as me.
ie. Get on offer before the OFT test case and now being told have to wait 3 weeks for furher letter.
Well, all of you that are in this boat, how many of you fancy contacting the press and telling them how Natwest are using this test case to stretch out the process, even refusing to pay some of us.
i am sure that this story is in the public interest as it highlights the fact that you cannot always rely on what you are told by a major high street bank.
Can anyone provide contact details for one of the nationals please??

I would welcome a little advice from one of the NatWest experts, if I may.
I already had all statements for the account I still hold, so sent initial template letter on 5/6/07 and followed up with lack of response letter 14 days later (both sent to branch that hold account).
After monitoring the posts on here daily since before then, I decided not to follow the MCOL line and give them 8 weeks (as that is when most were just being paid) then go down the Ombudsman line.
That makes the dates fall the wrong side.
I have STILL heard nothing from the initial 2 letters. I have confirmation that first was received (sent recorded) and have Certificate of Posting for second.
In the meantime, I have done some digging round and sent of for details of an old closed account and paid up credit card that both incurred charges. These charges were only requested on 25th July and I have received a letter acknowledging requests and that info will be sent ASAP.
The question is... How worried should I be that I have not received a reply from my initial claim? What should I be doing to progress this (I work nights, so calling a 9-5 office is rarely practical)?
Any advice would be gratefully received.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 584 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts

Nastywest havent got a clue what they are doing!
I dealt direct with Cobblers & got a cheque sent to me for my charges, I have since then had a letter from Nastywest saying if I accpet the offer in the letter the money will be with me in 14 days...
Now you guys work that one out!!Official DFW Member 587 :T0 -
I am pleased to say after numerous phone calls to CRU then CEO, received today was the 'new' offer letter (dated 3rd August - first offer on old style letter was dated 18th July) which stated the same amount- just shy of £3k, etc just slightly differently worded with added extras on about the test case and this being full and final settlement and a goodwill gesture etc.I sent the acceptance back today Special Delivery (due to post strike) so guaranteed there by 13.00 tomorrow and now await the funds to be transferred into the bank ... I shall post when this happens I would recommend that anyone experiencing difficulties ring the CEO - they do listen to you and if not able to provide specific information there and then - said would ring me back - they did return my calls - I was at work (on my mobile) and had to ask him to ring back during my lunchbreak, then hung up as my boss was behind me !!! true to his word -he rang back!!!0

Hi Toni,
Just to let you know i have just checked my account and the refund of charges has been paid in. (was paid in yesterday but didin't check the account :-( )
Didin't have to sign another letter. Was lied to on 3 different occasions saying i would have to wait.
So appears any letter recv'd before or on 27th July is still being honoured without the need of the second letter.
Hope the IVF is going well.

So recently I got charged £38 Unpaid Item fee, and this morning I received a letter saying that on the 31st August will be charged £28 for going overdrawn.
This may nt sound much compared to what most of you have reclaimed, but I am unemployed, and have no income. So obviously, I'm panicking like mad wondering how to cover this further charge.
Anyway, despite what's going on with the OFT case, I am aware that I can write to them with my claim even though they do not need to deal with it until the case is over. But, can I phone up about it? Has anybody called their bank since the case started to reclaim?
If I can, what do I say? I've never had to do anything like this before, and I get very nervous on the phone, so I like to plan out what I'm going to say ahead of time.
Thanks for any help.:j0
