yes just spoken to natwest they said , they are revising the offer letters and sending out over next few weeks , and extending the current offers by 2 months . does anybody know the new wording ?and if that is correct that they extending by 2 months . because my offer runs out on the 23 august 2007 sory for the silly questions
Not silly at all! I dont know the new wording but a clause has been added to stop customers looking for more money after the test case is over. You should receive the new letter in up to 3 weeks(RBS started posting theirs on Tuesday I was informed). Afer they receive your new signed copy back the money should credit your account within 7 days. Again this is RBS but I would imagine Natwest will be the same. To hurry things along why not call the chief Exec office as I did with RBS thanks to toniq. This was very helpful. See my post on this above earlier today. Regards

hi new to the forums just a question ,i recieved an offer letter from natwest a couple of weeks ago , however this was before the oft annoucement and while i had registered on mcol . there time limit was until today (surprise) they defended the claim . which means i have to wait for a court date.

in veiw of the recent oft annoucement i have decided to accept the offer,
what i wanted to ask is the wording in the letter , to see if i can claim the recent charges that have been applied to my account (if in the future we get the chance to reclaim them again)that i cant ever claim them again.

    the wording as follows
" i accept your offer in full and final settlement of my complaint (Advantage packaged account fees, stopped cheque fees, intrest and charges refunds already appliedto your account will have been excluded as appropriate)"

does this mean i can never claim again?

as i understand it, the complaint, consists of 1 a complaint letter 2 a list of charges, that is what they are settling.

if your saying will you still be able claim for additional charges that you have not originaly listed, cos they were incured since the oiginal complaint was filed, then i dont see why not. just make another complaint, its a seperate issue not covered in your original complaint.

if your saying you want to be able to have the difference in what you settled for and what you claimed, at a latter date, if the court case goes in the consumers favour then no.

afterall all the banks have done is made "good will gestures" so strictly speeking you havent had any charges "refunded", in full or part.

so if the court then order the banks to "refund all charges" that could lead them to be wrongly forced to pay it twice.

as a good will gesture to settle a compalaint is in no way a "refund"

i guess thats why they need to review how they word the settlement letters.

Well I got the new style offer letters they are sending out last week and i have no idea what to do! This is the 2nd time i have claimed charges...

It basically says that i either drop the claim, close my account or let them charge me £10 a month for a management fee account where the charges are capped at £17.

I can't do any of this i don't want to do 1 because i want my money, they say if I do 2 then my o/d is automatically repayable and i am not allowed to pay my loan from a different account (which i know to be rubbish anyway) and i don't have another account that lets me have a SO/DD. And i don't want to do 3 because i refuse to pay for a bank account.

Also they say if i don't reply in 60 days they presume i no longer want my account. Sadly it seems that no one seems to know what to do in this situation....first time ever, i feel like giving up.

Did you previously accept an offer before the deadline from your bank saying they would credit your current account?

For this particular claim i sent a pre-lim 04/07/07 to which i got no repsonse, then the LBA with schedule of charges 24/07/07, this conveluted letter was their response rec'd on 27/07/07 dated 24/07/07.

I have had no previous offer whatsoever for this claim.

In fact this is my 3rd claim, had one a few months ago for £90ish sent prelim got good will letter. Claim started back in April/May 2006 went all the way to court and we got a cheque for the money in December.

No need to be sorry, it seems they are posing account closure retaliation in a very sneaky way here and they have me over a barrel :(
