Sorry if this is a repost, I'm sure it will be, but I've gone through the 16 page sticky thread and can't seem to find out what I need to know....anyways....
I'm at the stage where I have a fist full of goodwill offers from various banks and credit cards. In fact, I was opening my Natwest offer when I saw Martin on the news!
Should I now accept these offers, with a view to taking things further when the banks lose in many months/years time? Do I need to make it clear to the banks/cards that I am accepting on MY terms, not theirs?
Can I even accept the goodwill offers in light of the developments this week?
Cheers,
Chris0 -

Claimed:£2200 natwest
Offered goodwill gesture £1960 natwest
Accepted and waiting for cash to hit account.#JusticeForGrenfell0 -
You can still claim the difference (unless you had to confirm full and final settlement) but will have to wait for the court's decision before the bank will proceed further.0

If I have received a letter stating wait 6-8 weeks blah, blah, blah, and I decide to wait for the outcome (yawn!), does this mean I am in the queue and they will have to pick up where left off when a ruling is made? I am unsure of starting a court case and having to pay out - then if the ruling is against us all that money would be lost.0

I have just received a phonecall from Natwest advising me that I will be charged £38 as a direct debit for £11 has gone out of my account today ( I don't get paid until tomorrrow) leaving the account overdrawn.
They made the phonecall as "they don't like to see people getting charged and they wanted to call to let me know they are here to help" Apparently whenever a customer goes overdrawn they:
1. Write a letter advising
2. Make a courtesy phonecall to try and help
I commented that they had taken over £3000 in charges from me over the last 6 years and that I had never once received a letter or phonecall about it.
SEEMS THEY ARE MAKING AN EFFORT TO 'FILL OUT' THEIR PROCEEDURES IN ANTICIPATION OF JUSTIFYING THEIR CHARGES DOES IT NOT?!0 -
I sent my letter asking for my charges back about 2 weeks ago & have not received anything back from them as of yet. Is this likely to mean that I am unlikely to be dealt with or are natwest dealing with all queries received upto the OFT ruling?0

Been following the advice of this site and have been batteling with cobbets solicitors as they put up quite a scary defence. Claiming 2,800 ish from them, they initially offered me 2k as a good will settlement which i refused.
But
Had this in the post today from Newark Court. I dont fully understand what it is asking the defence for but think its looking a bit better for me
IT IS ORDERED THAT
The court of its own motion is considering striking out the defence in this action as an abuse of process.
The basis for this is the fact the defendant is settling all claims of this nature where claimants are seeking reimbursement of bank charges, with no claim proceedings to a contested hearing.
The court considers the authority of Mullen -v- Heckney London Borough Council (1997)2 A11ER 906 relevant.
If the defendant objects to the proposed strike out it is ordered to file, within 14 days of the date of service of this order, a schedule setting out all claims of this type in England and Wales which have proceeded toa final contested hearing, and the outcome of such hearings, together with a schedule of all such claims which it has compromised before final hearing, after proceedings have been issued.
Upon receipt of any such objections the court will consider listing the claim for an on notice hearing of the strike out issue.
In the absence of any such objections being filed in time, the defence herein will be struck out and judgement entered for the amount claimed by the claimant, together with the appropriate costs claimable on the small claims track.
Ill let you know if they contest it0
