Hi they told me 6 - 8 weeks, but i stuck to the time scale of 14 days, you are the one in control of this not them, if you owed them money and they said to you, you have 14 days to pay and you replied im looking into it, it will take 6 - 8 weeks they would soon take you to court. Dont forget the charges are unlawfu, so now you have done the letter about taking them to court do it. I did mine online you have to pay depending on how much you are claiming, but it is straight forward. If you have any problems put it on the forum and people will help. Remember stick to your deadlines.Hope this helps and good luck.

Hi 1st post on here - thanks to all who have posted for all the helpful info that I have used to get this far:beer: .
I am wondering what to do now, with reading all the posts on here it seems that the people who sit tight & wait the full 6-7 weeks for an offer generally get what they are asking for, & that people who have gone the 'normal' route of sending the LBA threating action etc. normally get to the court stage before any offer is given. I m thinking that although I could very much do with the money ASAP, that I could wait 6-7 weeks for an offer, but do I have to send a letter of acknowledgement saying I will wait this long & then proceed with court etc?
Thanks in advance for any replies:rolleyes:

Just to add to the previous replies you have had and read, yes if you wait out the 6/8 weeks you will get an offer and can negotiate with NatWest if its not a full offer.

No need to acknowledge the fact that you have decided to wait but there is nothing to stop you phoning them to inquire how your case is progressing as they do deal with the claims in some sort of date order.

    Hello all!:j

I've just received my statements through. Charges totalling just under £1740 over two accounts (one of my Natwest accounts had no overdraft. I took some money out abroad from it and went into the red, but Natwest didn't send me any statements through, as it was an account I very rarely used, until it had defaulted with around £300 charges  ).

Having read through a few pages on this thread, it all seems a bit terrifying... The thing I'd be most annoyed about is if they turn around and close my accounts, seeing as that payout would pretty much just pay off my overdraft and leave me with nothing.

Nothing ventured, I guess... Are Natwest bad for closing accounts?

Good luck to everyone else, too!:A

Hi we've reclaimed 2 lots of charges from rbs(same group as natwest)& they haven't closed our account,i haven't read any posts where they've closed an account. It can be a bit un-nerving thinking about challenging the banks, but when you consider how many people have reclaimed then it gives you encouragement, and you can still use the forums for help and advice. You are right in saying nothing ventured nothing gained,go for it,it's your money and better in your pocket than theirs! GOODLUCK :money:

From all that I've read, Natwest do refund charges if you give them the time they suggest. Whether or not to go to Court..... it depends on how much you want to reclaim the interest and possibly a long wait.
My claim has been going on since Feb and I'm now stuck in the Court system and it is STRESSFUL.
The Court route isn't for everyone.

    Pam
I'm glad that you are back on line as you gave a lot of support to others on this site and you need to receive it back at the mo.
What about ringing your localcourt and asking when it is likely to be listed Give them a nudge . Give Nat West a nudge as well, calculate your charges again as the interest will be mounting and write with a final, final letter stating that the court case is looming and do they want tomake a settlement. You may just be one of the ones that has got lost in the system as your amount is nowhere as big as my claim

Hi ripski - thanks for your reply, much appreciated :)
I will give the local Court a ring and see where things are up to - there's been so much going on in the 3D world I haven't felt up to contacting them or the bank, and have wasted online time elsewhere away from the main MSE threads.
However, that was then, and this is now. I'll keep you posted how I get on.
Thanks again ripski - you've given me the nudge I needed :)

    Hi there

I'm in exactly the same boat as you are, I started my claim back in February and feel almost seven months down the line no further forward, it is demoralising and like you, had I known how much stress and anxiety this would cause would never of gone down the Court route.
In my case I was delayed (my own silly fault) for not quoting the correct Statutes in my original Particulars of Claim - this caused a delay whilst I had this re-amended through my local Court (additional cost of £35) - that was bad enough but the Court office was eight weeks behind on their paperwork and so it sat on a desk gathering dust for two months with nothing happening - waiting for the Court to reserve my new Particulars! Frustrating, even though it amounted to one line of text missing from my original claim.

That said, I'm now awaiting for Cobbetts to no doubt re-file a second defence... (their original defence played on lack of particularity, which has now been addressed but I'm expecting them to pull another reason out of the bag!) then go through the process of awaiting a Court date. I just keep hoping it will be worth it in the end and that one day we can all register our successes on this page!

I was made redundant last month (along with a third of the Company), and my company can't even pay my Statutory redundancy pay and notice pay, so you can imagine how this money would make a huge difference. I'm determined not to give up. I was a customer with Natwest for 13 years and they made my life hell, until I finally closed the account two years ago. Funny but since then I've never incurred a single penny of charges with my new account!

Good luck, hope you get your rightly deserved money back soon!

    Jen
Hi jen, sorry to hear you've been made redundant,i was in the same position last year(made redundant after 9 years with absolutely no warning),my bosses couldn't pay us any redundancy or wages in lieu of notice, but we contacted the insolvency service and eventually they payed us both redundancy and payment in lieu of notice(they were really helpful too). The insolvency service are online,so if you haven't already contacted them it's worth giving them a ring!Goodluck with your bank claim too! Hi 3Princes

Many thanks for your encouraging words of advice and support, I'm sure everything will work out well in the end. I've already contacted the insolvency service but unfortunately my company aren't technically at the moment insolvent (though I think it's only a matter of time before they are) so for the time being they can't help me. The CAB advised me to apply to the National Fund to claim for the redundancy element of my package but as for notice and holiday payments it's likely I'll lose those as you cannot claim for them if the company is still trading. There are 30 others all in the same position, frustrating but another of life's challenges sent to test us!

I've been working hard getting my CV together and contacting endless agencies, so hopefully there will be some good news on the horizon soon. I guess with looming Court cases and all of this claiming dragging on it just feels as though it's all a bit much at once.

    Trying to stay positive...
    Thanks, Jen

Hi Jen - thanks so much for posting and relating your experience with Nastywest. I was beginning to feel I was the only one being kept waiting like this and felt very down about it all yesterday. I'm sorry to hear about the redundancy - I had the threat of that hanging over me until last week, so I can imagine how you're feeling. I'm sure we'll each get our money, but we've been the unlucky ones who are facing a long wait :( For different reasons, I could really do with that cash myself at the moment (horrendously expensive and unexpected repair bill)

Well - I've got this far and I'm not giving up now. I shan't be settling for a penny less than the amount I've claimed! If you need a bit of moral support, just let me know!

I've been absent from the bank threads for too long - I used to spend a lot of time here cheering people on and offering advice where I could. I let myself get diverted by other things. However, I'm back again :)

    all the best,
    Pam

    Hi Pam

I can understand exactly how you feel, it's as though suddenly everything piles on top at once. I'm trying to stay positive and pro-active about it all. The bank thing just gets me down as each day I'm constantly checking the post - even though I know we are playing a waiting game.

It is good to have forum's like this though so we can all share our experiences good and bad... after all it's a bloody hard uphill struggle for some, and I think it's important to be able to be honest about how we really feel. If I had known 7 months back what a struggle it would of been, I would definately not taken the court route - my theory is though I'm down the route now so I'll fight it all the way!

Keep smiling, and let us know how you get on with ringing the court!

    Good luck, and thanks again
    Jen
