Cobbetts represent NatWest Bank when you sue them. You will have to be prepared and make sure you have copies of all correspondence. Expect to go to court BUT it is unlikely it will happen and they will pay out prior to it.0

It took 4 weeks not the 6-8 they claimed but Natwest have made a 'goodwill gesture' offer - just under 50% of almost £30k worth of charges on 2 accounts. The letter indicates that they do not agree with the basis of my complaint and that their charges are 'fair, reasonable and transparent'. The letter goes on to state they do not admit liability or error and that future charges if any will continue at their published rates! The implied threat is that if I dont accept the charges as published they may downgrade the accounts to 'exclude borrowing and other facilities'.
Couple of questions. Is it worth continuing with the claim for the full amount or should I make a counter offer as a compromise - any experience out there? Also do I have to accept their 'unlawful' charges as a condition of acceptance?0 -
Is that a typo or are you really claiming 30K?0

HI,
I have spoken with the team at Boreham Wood and they have said to me that they have supplied there final offer. I am claiming £3726 and they have offered me £2,870. This was back in March and I have declined and sent 2 further letters since and followed up with phone calls but no joy.
They have now told me that this is there final offer.
Should I now proceed with the court action. Will I get the full amount? Many thanks.

Hello,
I'm claiming about £3,200 from Natwest.
I've just got my court date through for 12th September, and it says on it that the hearing "should take no longer than to be fixed" - does anyone know what this means?
I guess I've got to get on with my court bundles now. Joy.
Thanks in advance...0 -
I am still looking for paperwork, but may have disposed of everything already.
Years ago I had a credit card with NatWest as well, I think I had it until about 4 or 5 years ago.
As I have no details of it (not even the card number), would I be able to look into reclaiming the inevitable charges on this?
How would I proceed with clarifying details, given that I appear to have no paperwork?Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 584 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts

Just give them name and address and date of birth as additional confirmation of who you are. That should be sufficient. I had a credit card about 2 years ago and had no paperwork whatsoever, they sent me my statements based on name and address only. Good luck.0 -
Hi All,
Hope someone can help me, i have just contacted a company to help me get my bank charges back to me with there charge that they take for claiming back for me but what i am concerned about is my account is now closed and a default has been placed on my credit reports and says that the close of account balance is £2916.30.
The company that are claiming the moeny back for me have calculated the charges at £1616.00 and in the proccess of getting them back for me.
Could anyone tell me if they would actually pay out or just take it of the balance of what i owe to them.
Thank You in advance for all the replies. Thanks

I have gone through all the proceedures outlined to retrieve my £2700.00p from Nat West Bank.
The only reply I ever had was receiving my statements.
Two letters via recorded delivery asking for the money and threatening court action fell on deaf ears.
I recently applied to the local court to resolve this matter.
today I have received a letter from a company named Cobbetts LLP stating they have been instructed on behalf of the defendant.
The enclosed acknowledgement of service shows the box ticked 'I intend the defend this claim'.
Is this just another scare tactic?
Will I have a fight on my hands?
And if so has anyone gone through this and can offer some sound advice.
Would really appreciate some help here.
I was in exactly the same position. The only response from Nat West was the statements. Went as per templates re dates. Tried t/c once and got nowhere Just hung on for ages . Started claim MCOl approx April. They waited until the 11th hour to defend ie 2.00pm on the day when I could have got judgement . I received the Cobbetts defence in the same post as an offer .Others have waited longer for the offer. Some think that the amount makes a difference to the response
Start preparing your papers but experience on this site shows that you are unlikely to get to court0 -
Yes it's for real - I added up referral fees, interest charges, the lot!0
