Interesting.
I just called Natwest out of curiosity.
According to the chap I spoke to, their system doesn't show that they are defending yet, just that they acknowledged my claim.
This week is the 8th week since my claim began and the person I spoke to told me that I should expect an offer of settlement by Thursday and if I didnt receive it, to call back.
Does this indicate that they will offer to settle all claims regardless of whether they defend or not? Seems strange that he seemed certain I would receive an offer letter as a matter of course even though one hadnt been created yet and Cobbetts are defending.0 -
I am claiming back almost £4500 afater almost ten weeks Natwest have made me an offer for £1500... I do not want to accpet this, what should I do now? Is there a template letter I can repsond with basically saying thanks but no thanks now pay up? or should I telephone them?
Advice would be GREATLY appreciated....

Yes and Probably .They defended my claim at the 11th hour on the 28th day About a week later I got the defence pack from Cobbetts, which suggested that they were going all the way to Court and --- in the same post - another letter with an offer.I accepted this.
When I rang one week later to see how long -I was told they had no record of my acceptance on the system and might have lost it. Only days after this the money was in my account
So---Just be patient Their repsonse= how long is a piece of string but you will get there0 -
Thanks for that Ripski. Fingers crossed.0

Have just received statements from Nat West re current plus account. Imagine my surprise and horror on checking them, not only did I find my statements but some statements for two other customers, so J**** P****** and D*** T*****, if you're reading this, I have your bank account numbers and sort codes. That has to be a breach of Data Protection don't you think?
I also work in finance and if I sent personal details out to the wrong person, especially banking details, I would be sacked, and quite rightly so. Do you think it should be reported or have we crossed this bridge before?0 -

Hi, I would be super grateful for any advice.
I am on step 4 : have set up parachute bank & written asking for the money. The first 14 days was up 5 days ago so I wrote threatening court - however- Natwest have sent me a letter (must have crossed in the post) saying it will take 6-7 weeks to consider my claim.
It is for a relatively small amount - I will probably only got £150-£200 if they refund me - which I felt was worth claiming but not sure if it makes difference to their likelihood.
My big dilemma is - do I press on with court / Ombudsman if I don't hear within this next 14 days ?0 -

Sorry natweststaffmember, I've done as you asked, but its disgusting to think that a bank such as nat west could even do such a thing. Banking details are relevant only to the account holder, and as such customers need to know their details are secure. In this case they were not and how many other mistakes have they made like this. If any unscrupulous person had have got hold of them, goodness knows what would of happened, and would the bank have reimbursed any losses, I doubt it. It might be difficult without pin numbers and the like, but where there's a will there's a way! There's some clever people out there!0
