Amount claimed: £3,156.00
Amount received: £3,156
Started claiming in April, received the letter stating must wait 6-7 weeks.
I decided to wait the 6-7 weeks as i really didn't want the stress of chasing them.
I rang once a week to ask for an update on my claim, i was told i would hear by the 19th July. I was polite at all times and i take my hat off to the Natwest staff, they were all lovely.
14.07.07 - This morning i received my offer letter for the full amount i was claiming - minus the interest but thats ok they can have that!
I fully admit to not being a wonderful customer over the years .... but in my favour , since the day i decided to claim i have not incurred one more charge! Bloody hard work but i feel good :rotfl:
Many thanks to Martin Lewis for spurring me into action and to everyone who has contributed to this site, your stories gave me hope and brilliant advice. My advice, give them the time they ask for and its less stressful and they pay up!
Thanks

Hiya
Have received my offer letter for my Natwest account today less interest which i'm very happy with so will be accepting, but wanted to know how long it usually takes after accepting till i'll see the money in my account !! As i could do with it ASAP (times are hard)
Thanks to numerous people on this website, too many too mention, just reading your posts has shown me the way and i've now sent off my 2nd letter to Barclaycard and am awaiting their response0 -
Hi fellow Natwest claimers, Im claiming £1650 (but Im claiming interest too so its £1940 in all) with good old NW got my statements this morning and already worked out how much the sods owe me. My highest single charge is a whoping £90!!! which I have had twice for "referral" also had charges of £75,£70,£60 all for the same thing, I would like to know if I can claim for all the following charges:
1. Unarranged borrowing fees (approx £14)
2. Referral charges (like the ones mentioned above got loads of these!)
3. Charges (Ive got quite a lot of these (approx £20-£30dont know what the charges relate to? they pint to a specific date but its not an o/d charge.
I would also like to know the best address to post my repayment letter to because Ive got quite a few different ones. And I want to bully the bank so after 14 days if Ive no reply (which from what Ive read from you guys is nigh on impossible!) what do I need to do to get the court ball rolling??
Thanks everyone and thanks for sharing your info with people on hear its great to read how everyone gets on.

Hi Tony,
Yes you can claim for all of the charges you have stated and the address to write to is:
Customer relations
ground Floor
National Westminister House
225 Shenley Road
Borehamwood
WD61TE
Thats the address that i have just taken off my offer letter!
Good luck

Tony, all of those are claimable, and the address mentioned by miss ajax is correct. You need to make sure you include either 1) a copy of the statements with the charges you are claiming highlighted or 2) a schedule of the charges, listing each one and the amount and date. They will probably acknowledge it with a letter saying 6-7 weeks. They will not offer anything more that charges minus interest BUT it is also unlikely they will respond within YOUR timetable so prepare for the possible enjoyment of suing the bank.0

Thanks very much Jax and Natweststaffmember!!0

i got my letter dated 25th June saying 6-7 weeks. Is this timescale correct?0

Standard timescale for NatWest. They generally deal with claims in date order and will offer you the full amount of your claim in due course. You can of course phone them within this timescale to ask how your claim is going.0

I already had all my statements for the account I am claiming for.
I sent the first claim letter by recorded delivery on Wednesday, 6th June (addressed to the branch holding my account).
I sent the second letter, threatening Court action (as had heard nothing back) on Thursday, 21 st June (again to local branch).
Therefore I would have been entitled to commence Court proceedings on Thursday, 5th June.
Based on some of the things I have been reading here, I decided to defer my decision for an additional 4 weeks so that I can then choose between Ombudsman and Court, if nothing has still been resolved.
My question is, however, is the reason that I have received no reply or acknowledgement down to the fact that I wrote to my local branch? Other people seem to be getting at least acknowledgement quite quickly...
Should I be forwarding copies of correspondence to the Customer Relations address, or is that unnecessary?
Finally, I should mention that I work permanent nightshifts... is there an e-mail address that I can use to chase things along as it can be very difficult to make telephone contact in Office hours?!
I am refusing to get stressed about this, I severed most ties with NatWest about 4 years ago so there is only minimal inconvenience at me waiting the extra few weeks. Mind you, if they don't play ball I will have no remorse about taking them for the full amount plus interest (a little under £1100 in total).
Thanks in anticipation for any advice!
