Hi all
I started claiming in early May for £1,900ish including interest, recieved an offer of £1,588 (which is the amount my charges were without interest) on July 3rd. Very pleased with this so thanks to Martin and everyone on here.
£1000 of the money will be going straight to pay off a Natwest credit card anyway but at least now I will be debt free!

hi. i am claiming 3300 in charges and additional 700 in interest from natwest. had standard 6- 7 week reply. kept phoning them. then i asked one the other day if my offer had been validated. he said yes, and i asked if he could confirm amount. They offered charges of 3300 as goodwill gesture however letter wont go out until 56 days from them receiving 2nd stage complaint. Is it worth chasing interest of 700 and writing to them now?0

Okey Dokey folks,
Just had a letter through this morning off Cobbetts (im up to the defence stage) and they have wrote pages of mumbo jumbo etc.
The jist of it is they want me to list everything and tell them why I feel the charges are incorrect for each charge and they are trying the old CPR Part 18 trick:
1) This request is served pursuant to CPR Part 18 alternatively with regard to CPR Rule 27.2(3)
2) The reason(s) why this has been served are set out in the Defence which has been served by the Defendant.
3) You are asked to provide a response to this request in accordance with CPR Part 18 by 23 July 2007
4) If you are unable to provide a response by this date then you are asked to contact the Defendant's solicitors promptly and tell them when you will be able to provide a response.
5) In the even that you do not provide an adequate response to this request by this date (or such other date as may be agreed with the Defendant's solicitors) then the Defendant can apply to the court for an order requiring you to provide the information requested or (in view of the deficiencies in the way that the claim is Pleaded) an order striking out the claim(s)
Then they are requesting I send in the account details and each charge and reason for each charge.
Then (if that wasnt enough) they want me to explain per charge why I am contending it!
oh and then they are asking me to specifiy all of the facts of the unfair terms in consumer contract regulation of 1999.
Nice.
Any template I could just blast back to them to get them off my back?
Thanks for the help guys,

Hi all
I spoke to NW yesterday, after receiving the 6-7 week letter. I was informed that offers are being sent out at around 7-8weeks currently. Their date of receipt was 28th June (lathough signed for 22nd June)- taking me through to around 23 rd August. The amount is only £260, so after reading other posts I expect they will likely offer this in full.
If I wanted to move this along via MCOL, what sort of timescales can I expect. Letter before action allows 14 days, then file claim & they are allowed 28 days to respond/defend?
If so that would take me up to around the same point anyway. So...my question (after all that) - is it worthwhile pursuing via MCOL (have I got timescales wrong? Do I need LBA to be sent before issuing proceedings?) or best to wait?
Apologies for the long post, I hope it makes sense.
Thanks in advance0 -
Having worked for NatWest/RBS for 10 yrs, I knew what they were like for charging etc. I left them 2 yrs ago when they started charging. I managed to get the full amt. of £1700 AND they even wrote to me increasing my overdraft to an amt. that I'd requested approx. 1yr ago (and was refused). The only thing that annoyed me was that I never got a reply to my first letter, so 5/6wks sent another one thinking that they hadn't got the first (or couldn't be bothered to reply).

Hey all,
Received a letter from Natwest saying that it would be 7 - 8 weeks for them to investigate. That will be up in two weeks time today so shall I send them the letter threatening court action and giving two weeks notice or shall I call them or write another type of letter or just wait it out?
Have to say this has been long winded but I certainly could not of got this far without the help of martins website!
Can't wait to find out if they give me an offer but if they don't I will be gutted.
Any advice much appreciated0 -
i waited the 6-7 weeks and today i got an offer of almost the full amount! going to accept it so my advice is hang on in there, nothing to lose!!0
