  • The letters to the branch should have been forwarded onto to Customer Relations Unit. Did you include either a) a copy of the statements with the charges highlighted? or b) a schedule of charges? If you did then you did everything right so you need to decide now whether you fancy beating the bank in court or whether you want the FOS to cost the bank £400 to get them back? Your call and your claim
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009

    Thanks for the quick reply!

I used the on-site interest calculator on here to do the calculations, a print out was included with each of the letters.

The second letter included a photocopy of the signed first letter too, but was sent only with Certificate of Posting. The first one was sent Recorded though.

Can they be chased by e-mail?

  • My boyfriend sent a letter to Natwest asking for his charges back in May. He never sent a second and forgot about it until I reminded him, he called and they said there was a back log etc.. Then about 5 days after that he got a letter offering him all him money and it would be in his account within 10 days.

I'm now about to take them on over my credit card charges
  • i received a letter from natwest stating that they were considering my claim and that the work involved would take up to 6-7 weeks to respond. is this a stalling tactic ? or just common practise? Can anyone share some experience on this matter. Thanks

I got same letter and they did pay 6 wks later!! Stick with it. I have been Nat West customer for almost 20 years.:j
  • I waited for 5 weeks then did a moneyclaim on the full amount on the 22/6/2007 (Served 30th). I rang them the day after, and they said I would be offered the amount I had claimed less interest by the 10th July.
I still left the moneyclaim running as I wanted it plus the interest after all the hassle they caused me (Debt Collectors, County court Judgement Threats). I checked today to see if I could continue the claim online, and it says they dispute the whole amount. How can this be, if when I phoned they said that I would be getting £1100? I don't understand. Its getting transferred to the local court now and I am starting to panic. Can anyone offer advice. I dont want to end up owing them money, if I get stuffed in court.
  • Hi all

I need some help please. I recently filed another claim against Natwest. The second claim with them.

Like a pond life that I am, I sent my first letter requesting payment within 14 days (as per template on here) and got letter from Stuart Higley saying they are looking into it, and to give them 7-8 weeks. What didn't I do? Take a copy of my letter!! So now I can't remember when I sent letter, hence I don't know when my 14 day deadline is up.

Can I start again? Can I send a new 14 day letter with a new claim amount? I have been charged again since my first letter to them. Will it affect anything if I do? Should I word the letter a bit differently so that they know its a new claim? Also, because I didn't keep a copy, I don't know what the figures were that I sent them.

Help please, I can't believe I have done this, last time I was so thorough.

they are defending as you are taking to court. I am claiming for £3300 + £700 interest. They said they are going to offer 3300 yet i have to wait to their 6-7 weeks thing.Which i am doing as ill for gor interest.
If you did not proceed with claim you would have got the 1100.

    Hi All,

Im experiencing a touch of nerves for the first time today.

Natwest have entered a defence on the 28th day after service. Does anybody know how Natwest tend to behave from this stage onwards?

Obviously I am willing to go to court otherwise I would not filed but hoping I wont have to worry msyelf about that.

Having said that, my father is a Barrister and has offered to defend me for free so hopefully should be fairly painless :D

Has anybody got to this stage with Natwest before and if so, what happened next? Thank you
