  • Got a letter from them a few weeks ago. I was on the One Plan 15 quid a month deal which gave me 2000 voice, 5000 txts, and unlimited data.

Letter said they were moving me onto their £30 a month unlimited everything deal. No way I was willing to double the price. I never use more than about 500 minutes, and monthly data usage is usually around 15 gig.

Called number on letter and instantly asked for PAC code, right away she tried to offer the £25 deal from the web site. Told her no as I could get the same from BT for 20 quid (I lied about that part, I'm not a BT customer to get their £20 deal).

She went to speak to someone and came back with 600 mins, unlimited texts, and unlimited data for £20 a month on a one month rolling contract. Happy enough with that tbh.

You could call back and try pushing a bit harder. Many are being offered the £30 AYCE allowance mentioned in the letter for £20 and the deal they offered you with 600 mins for £17.

I don't use many non Three minutes so went with the £17 monthly rolling and was also offered 2000 3 to 3 mins free each month.
  • hearing that really annoys me, I spoke to someone last tuesday and basically ran out of time with them and got them to change nothing with my account, even when i got to the retentions team I was told they couldnt do a deal on AYCE data for me

Spoke to someone on saturday and ended up signing up for the £23 a month deal for 200mins + ACYE data on the rolling sim :(

Having cautiously recommended Three in the past, I would now suggest anyone with a fledgling CRA record stays well clear of any "contract" with Three.

I have just been contacted by a family member, a student who started with Three after taking over the contract from me just 3 months ago. Now he's failed another mobile co.s CRA check and yet his credit record is spotless.

That person was one affected by Three's discriminative change and tried to vote with his feet.

I can state confidently with good evidence that there actions are a discrimination, probably an indirect age discrimination and that is one unlawful aspect. They have not stopped everyone's contracts on the legacy £15 per month. There may be good evidence they are targeting the younger customers.

Another is the contract that existed and which is now broken with unfair pressure on those customers who have no viable alternative to accept a doubled airtime charge.

I should never have started suggesting Three mobile i.e. Hutchison 3G were an OK company. Clearly they are run by crooks like so many of our household name companies.

You sound angry and not sure I follow.

Are you suggesting it's Three fault your relative failed a credit check or just the fact they can't move to a new provider because it won't accept them based on the credit check ?

Was the contract you mention outside its minimum term and Three issued a notice of a variation in terms such as changing the price i.e. old One Plan £15 to current plan at £30 ?

I was also affected by this but I'm well over 30 so I don't think age plays a role. Whilst I didn't like the fact that Three wanted to vary the terms of my contract it wasn't braking the terms of the contract by doing so. It gave me 30 days notice and options including one to leave without penalty by giving it 30 days notice of termination.

In the end I negotiated a new deal with Three as have many other One Plan customers meaning I pay only a little more than before and its still cheaper than anything else based on what it offers.

Did you relative try to negotiate ?

Im glad you feel you can confidently state nonsense, because that's what that whole paragraph is, I know of people right up into their 60's that have had the one plan removed.

Why is it so hard to understand that Three are removing the plan from EVERY customer that has it?

It might be bad business PR-wise and quite immoral to long standing customers, but it is lawful and Three are within their rights to do so. Just like the customer can give 30 days after the minimum term so can the service provider.

    Hello Dave

What do you know about the law? Not a lot evidently. It doesn't matter - we're almost lawless now.

Meantime I still have my £15 per month deal with no notification yet. Why? Because of discrimination. Us oldies just don't use the data, so we? Perhaps I don't use quite so much data as the younger generation.

The whole mobile phone industry is out of control. Same with financial services. Same with fuel retailers. Same with big data.

Our government have long been inept, and now they are also pretty corrupt.

My GBP wealth has been devalued by 15% in the last two months. That's my home equity, my pension, my savings, everything except ... oh yeah, my gold.

Whose wealth has gained whilst mine has plummetted? Yours Dave?

Why not let the corporates take what they want? That's what you advocate - it's legal so they can do what they want until someone actually locks them up, but they won't, because corporates hold all the power, and power is law. So maybe you are not wrong. Just keep running round that hamster wheel and you can be as right as the next hamster, right? Collect your salary in GBP and pretend all is well when in fact you are being systematically ripped off from every direction.

Well, I reckon it's almost time for the revolution. Hamsters of the world should unite!
