  • That is exactly what I wanted to achieve but have received a totally different response.

I was calm and tried to build a rapport with the adviser, the only time I was a little peeved is when they cut me off after 20 minutes and I had to start again.

I will have a look around at alternatives over the weekend and make a decision on what I want to do.

    Thanks everyone

I am not taking sides here but I too have been affected by these changes too. In reality Three gave us all a fantastic deal with the One Plan. It certainly gave us something new over the other operators at a great price and allowing them to build their customer numbers. The majority of us have been out of contract for a long time but they have maintained the deal on a rolling basis. Eventually this had to end for many reasons and they are a business at the end of the day and they are fully within their rights to do this, lets not forget we all signed up to the T&C's too. To be fair they are trying to retain their customers by giving them options, initially with a small loyalty discount of £3 on the nearest equivalent plan with a 12GB Tethering limit. In my case I didn't want to spend an extra £12 per month so I analysed my usage of Data, Calls & Overseas use and in my particular case nobody can get near to what three offer as I travel to USA several times a year.
A friendly chat with an Overseas call rep who will have been fully briefed on the general situation resulted in a new plan with a loyalty discount of £8 that actually saves me £72 a year, this was without any pressure on the call agent. Today I received a letter with the changes, new contract from 1st Feb and change of plan on 23rd March so they are doing 60 days. Lets face it nobody really gives any loyalty these days. When has your energy company left you on a cheaper tariff when the contract ends, they don't so you find a better deal, this applies to most things in life. You will probably get stressed and waste more money in the time it takes you to complain to Three or Ofcom when there is nothing to complain about.
  • I received the illiterate letter from Three saying they were doing me a favour by increasing my bill by 50%, and I didn't have to worry.
I'm astonished that people think loyalty deserves fair treatment. Don't expect customer loyalty to mean anything. The companies that sell telecoms, insurance, banking, gas, electricity, transport, all share the same philosophy: unrestrained monumental greed.
They believe that customer loyalty=laziness+stupidity, and you are ripe for exploitation.
As the old proverb says: "if God did not want them sheared, He would not have made them sheep".
There is no effective competition between these companies, and they are all in it together.
The taxpayer-funded regulator quangos are staffed by toothless poodles, with no useful authority to control the market. Even if Three loses a third of its customers, its revenues will increase and its costs will decrease, hence massive profits will accrue.
You ain't seen nothing yet. If Hutchison (owns Three) succeeds in taking over O2, we'll be in for another price hike.

All of this fannying about - asking for contract changes or PAC's
Just give them an ultimatum - no change to T&C or you will walk.......

I don't think you quite understand the situation, there is no option of "no change to T&C", that is done and dusted and way beyond the discussion.

The choice is accept a new price plan or walk, and they leave that choice to you, it's their ultimatum to you, not yours to them.

I'll believe a price freeze when I see it. They also said that they wouldn't be upping contracts by RPI mid term.
  • after some chat, I pointed out that someone on this forum was offered £12 for 4gb & unlimited text/phone.

the chap denied that there was any kind of deal available. I pointed out that there clearly was and asked if I needed to speak to the retentions team. Some back and forth and then he put me on hold to 'ask a manager'

He then came back with the offer of £14 for 4gb and unlimited mins/texts.

I wasn't able to get to the £12 mentioned elsewhere - but frankly, this seems pretty good.

I'm not allowed to post images - so I can't post the confirmation text...

Yes..sadly they lied to you because I got that deal for my wife for £12. The same way they are lying to me and saying no one is getting ultd every thing for £20..clearly many people on the forum got it
  • I used the pac they kindly gave me :)

Awful inconsistent service from 3 regarding the one plan.

Moved onto the vodafone deal as I pay for netflix anyway so effectively £13 pm with £73.50 cashback hopefully.

I have heard about the poor customer service from Vodafone but everytime I have contacted them they have been ok so will see how they go before I move the 2 other Three contracts over.

    Xx
  • I've received a letter as well.
In my case they want to move me from 5000 minutes, 2000 texts and AYCE data to 600 minutes and 1gb data, with no mention of texts! They claim they've already got in touch with me a couple of weeks ago about this, but it's the first I've heard of it.

Not sure what to do now - my contract finished in November and usually I would upgrade and get a new handset but it's hard to find a large-screened Android phone with a replaceable battery and Micro SD slot these days (currently have the Galaxy Note 3), so I had planned to stay on my existing tariff and see what phones were announced in the Spring. No chance of that now.

I could do with some advice:
If I move to another AYCE package what sort of price should I be paying? I see some people on here have been getting discounts. I plan on calling them Saturday afternoon so it would be good to know what to try and steer them towards.
Also, if I sign up to a contract will I be able to switch to one with a handset in a couple of months time, or am I tied to it for the duration?

    Thank you.

If you're passed the minimum term of your handset contract and don't want to upgrade the phone now just move to a sim only plan.

You can choose 1 month or 12 month plans Three's website shows the ACYE sim only plans starting at £20 pm for 12 month or £23 for a 1 month rolling plan. What you end up with may depend on how well you negotiate but the lowest I've seen for AYCE data and 200 mins is £15, AYCE data with 600 mins £17 and AYCE data/mins £20. Some appear to have gone with 12 month plans while other managed to stay on monthly rolling plans.

If you go 1 month rolling you have no issue moving to a handset contract or leaving Three wthing 12 months. I seem to recall the 12 month sim plans allow upgrade after x months to a higher allowance plan for the duration of the contcat but I'm not sure about upgrading the sim plan to a handset plan.
